As we close in on the first half of the year, Open Doors–both as a model and organization–is stronger than ever. We have solidified relationships, grown partnerships, continued to perfect our model as well as made our first placements for those seeking housing that are housing insecure. Thanks to the work of our community, volunteers, and partners we continue to “make the connections that bring people home.”
In 2023 we have been heavily focused on securing housing for the City of Atlanta’s Lift 2.0 housing surge. This collaborative program aims to break the cycle of homelessness for the chronically homeless. Open Doors is serving as the lead for landlord engagement and unit location in this city-wide initiative.
Open Doors has also spent the first half of the year heavily focused on our own strategic plan and fundraising campaign, “Open More Doors”. We are pleased to report that we have reached the important milestone of over 90% funds raised to our goal. Open Doors is actively working to Open More Doors for the Atlanta region and has met our strategic goals of adding additional Property Navigators and Housing Support Navigators to our staff. We have also met our strategic goals of growing our property portfolio, which now comprises more than 575 properties serving over 130 community partners as we work to close the gap on housing instability.
