Strategic Planning

Thanks to a grant from VA Housing, Hanover and King William Habitat for Humanity has begun a new strategic planning process with the help of a local consulting firm, The Spark Mill. We desire to reflect our community's needs and wishes in our planning process and The Spark Mill has sent an online survey to gather your feedback. If you missed the email, you can access it here. Please complete the survey by March 20.

Faith Build Update

Our Faith Build property on Wesley Street in Ashland has walls! Walls were prebuilt offsite by a church and transported to our lot. Volunteers this week helped piece them together like a puzzle and then raised them!

There are openings for groups and individuals to work on this project. Learn more and sign up on our volunteer portal.

Dewey Street Update

The Dewey Street renovation project is looking great! We have painted the majority of the walls, the flooring is down, and most of the bathroom is complete. Check out this quick video to walk through the house.

This project is supported in whole or in part by federal award number VA NEU 0008 awarded to the Town of Ashland by the U.S. Department of Treasury.

ReStore

NEW CABINET STYLES ARE AVAILABLE!

Did you know you can order solid wood cabinets through the ReStore? We have new colors and styles to choose from, including grays and whites! Come into the store and talk with Rick, the manager, to order your new kitchen or bathroom cabinets!

The ReStore is hiring a part-time receiver. This individual will work 24 hours a week helping bring in donations and work with customers. Read a full description on our website and come into the store to fill out an application.

Homeowner Support

Macon A Difference - April 23

Through service-oriented activities, Macon A Difference Day unites the Randolph Macon campus and the community as students come together for one exciting day to express gratitude and support for the Ashland community. Residents in the Ashland area who need help on the exterior of their homes can learn more online.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance

United Way’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax preparation for families and individuals with an income of $60,000 or less. United Way’s team of staff and volunteers prepare income tax returns for qualifying families and individuals and advocate for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). Their work ensures that tax returns are accurate and everyone receives their full refund and avoids unclaimed tax credits, fees for tax preparation services, and refund anticipation loans. Find a tax site near you.

Partners in the Community

A big shout out to Capital One for their financial donation toward our next home! With their help, we are able to make our next home more affordable for the homeowner!

While Habitat receives grants from businesses and local foundations, we rely heavily on additional financial support from the community to provide affordable homes and critical repairs locally. Please consider making a financial contribution to help Habitat and our homeowners.
