It is rare in the day of the Internet that we are able the experience the thrill of discovering  the hitherto unknown. Discover the long-hidden body of original artworks created by Ed Henrion, Cooper Union graduate and master of satire, working secretly in his studio for over 50 years while disguised as a mild-mannered high school art teacher and free-lance magazine  illustrator.  A satirist of the highest order with a keen eye for the absurdities of the human condition, Ed was an equal opportunity offender. Contemporary culture was his target, with subjects  ranging from politics to sex, celebrities, religion, and the art world in his no-holds-barred commentary on the New York scene as he lived it, up-close and personal, during a significant era in history....primarily the 1950's, 60's, and '70's. FAIR WARNING: this work is not for the faint-hearted! The gentler side of his nature produced a series of exquisitely executed nude studies from life which will also be available for viewing..

Eschewing the “business” of art, Ed studiously avoided exhibiting the work in public while he was alive.  It wasn’t until a few years ago that he permitted his wife to publish some of his satirical drawings in two books, Sweet & Lovely and Top Hat, both available on amazon.com. Now, as a tribute to this extraordinary artist who passed away at age 87 earlier this year, the open studio event featuring Ed Henrion’s never-before-seen original artworks will be held at the home of his wife, Marilyn Henrion. Although the intention is simply to share these works which are too amazing to keep hidden any longer, they will also be available for purchase (if you dare!).
