Open enrollment is underway at Helix Community Schools for the 2025-2026 school year and adminstrators have some exciting things planned.
- Helix Artificial Intelligence & Medical Academy in Opelousas is set to open in August 2025 as it will be welcoming its inaugural kindergarten through fifth grade classes and new faculty and staff led by Jennifer Gordon who will serve as principal of the new school. It will be the first new school built in Opelousas in decades.
- Helix Aviation Academy is adding six new grades - second, third, fourth, fifth, 10th and 11th. The school will now offer classes for students in kindergarten through 11th grade at its new campus on Plank Road.
- Helix Mentorship Academy is adding a new Maritime program which is designed to provide high school students with hands-on experience and education in marine sciences and maritime careers. The school is also expanding its Freshman Academy which started this year. This initiative aims to provide incoming freshmen with a specialized curriculum to help ease the transition to high school.
- Helix Legal Academy will be offering a Spanish I class for seventh grade and a Spanish II class for eighth grade. The school will also add robotics to its curriculum and students will also be able to participate in Esports gaming next year.
