World Mental Health Day

Recognized Oct. 10

The World Health Organization (WHO) recognized yesterday, October 10, as a day to raise awareness about emotional health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of improving emotional health. This year, the theme "make emotional health and well-being for all a global priority" echoed Roadmap's work in this same space.

In recognition of World Mental Health Day, Roadmap encourages you to read and share this article about the warning signs of suicide and ways to get help:

Warning Signs of Suicide and Ways to Get Help

To make suicide intervention more accessible, The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline launched a new "988" hotline number in summer 2022. An update shared by the American Academy of Pediatrics stated calls to the lifeline increased by 45% when compared to the same time last year. To expand on its impact, the majority of these calls were connected to a counselor. More metrics on the performance of the new hotline number can be found published by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration here.
