Recap of a WILD Membership Meeting!
DCCA members and friends held our December 5th membership meeting at the Keegan Theatre, on the set of their current production of Irish Carol. Alexis Hartwick, Managing Director, gave us an overview of Keegan and their presence in Dupont Circle, and Jared Graham, Director of Education, told us about Keegan’s education and community engagement activities.

For the main event, we had talks on Wildlife in DC. Jim Monsma, from City Wildlife delighted us with pictures of baby animals that City Wildlife has fostered for re-release and imparted the important message to call City Wildlife before bringing in baby birds or mammals that appear to be abandoned, because sometimes their moms are just off getting food. Dan Rauch, a wildlife biologist at DOEE focused on birds in DC, with many wonderful pictures. He noted that over 320 bird species have been observed in DC, because we have so many different types of habitats, with our parks, streams, and rivers, and new species add to the count every year or so. He called our attention to the Stream Restoration project in the Arboretum, where besides birds, there are resident beavers and otters have been spotted.

Afterwards, we enjoyed wine and snacks in Keegan’s lobby.

And the Streatery Award Winner Is...Annie's Paramount Steak House!
We invite you to join us for a special Happy Hour awards ceremony at Annie's TONIGHT at 5:30 pm!

Earlier this week we announced the winner of the Streatery Award to DCCA members. DCCA recently conducted a survey of its members and established an expert panel to review the survey results and to identify the winner of the DCCA Streatery Award for Contributions to the Neighborhood

Annie’s Streatery was highly regarded by DCCA survey respondents for its attractive design, for the effective use being made of public space, for its maintenance and cleanliness and for its safe design for people who walk, bike and drive. The Award Panel noted in addition that Annie’s Streatery was “fun, spirited and consistent with the theme of the restaurant.” The Eaton DC hotel has kindly provided a complimentary weekend stay for the Award winner.

DCCA is proud to be a connecting space for neighborhood voices. Dupont Circle Citizens Association President, Susan Volman, will be presenting Annie's with the award this evening.

Free Irish Carol Performance at the Keegan for Dupont Neighbors!
Wednesday, December 14th
6:00 – 7:00 PM
Keegan Theatre

The Keegan's holiday tradition is back! An Irish Carol is an homage to Dickens’ classic – told as only the Irish can. This comic and touching play, set in a modern Dublin pub, follows one evening in the life of David, a wealthy pub owner who has lost touch with his own humanity in the interest of self-protection and material success. But on this Christmas Eve – challenged by a voice from the past, provoked by those in the present, and faced with the reality of a lonely future – David’s life may change forever.

Performances December 15-December 31.

Free preview performance for Dupont residents on December 14 at 8:00 pm. Learn more at: https://keegantheatre.com/portfolio/an-irish-carol-2022/
