Have you heard of Tri-Cities Canstruction?


The countdown is on, and the rhythm is building! The very first Canstruction competition is officially heading our way. Teams of local designers will soon be brainstorming for our inaugural theme, "Harmony Against Hunger."

They will transform ordinary tin cans into massive musical sculptures to fight local food insecurity. Consider entering a team in this challenging competition when the call for entries opens this summer. Sponsorship for this amazing event is available.

Downtown Batavia Revives a Storied Tradition at 2026 Boo Boo Days

A throwback celebration with vintage ads, retro cocktails, and small-town charm returns during Windmill City Festival weekend, July 10-12. Originating in 1956 as a modest sidewalk sale and officially dubbed "Boo Boo Days" until 1978, this long-standing event began when local merchants showcased clearance and overstock items on the sidewalks—a concept that quickly became a cherished summer staple. Windmill City Festival Returns to Batavia July 10-12

Get ready for a three-day summer event full of excitement, entertainment, and community fun at Batavia’s signature summer celebration, Windmill City Festival. This can’t-miss event brings the community together with live music, family-friendly activities, thrilling carnival rides, a lively beer garden and a delicious food court at the scenic Batavia Riverwalk. The free family festival organized by Batavia Park District, City of Batavia and Batavia Depot Museum kicks off on Friday, July 10 at 5 p.m., and runs through Sunday, July 12, at 6 p.m. Get the schedule and more here.


The Forest Preserve District of Kane County Invites All to the Kane Forest Preserve Foundation Golf Outing

Golfers are invited to enjoy a day on the course while supporting local forest preserves at the Kane Forest Preserve Foundation’s annual Golf Outing, on Thursday, Sept. 10, at Hughes Creek Golf Course in Elburn. Find out all the details.

Batavia Sales Tax Increased on July 1


The City of Batavia increased its local sales tax by 0.5% on July, 1, 2026, raising the combined general merchandise sales tax rate to 8.5%. This new rate replaces the previous 8% tax. The additional revenue will help fund a future police department facility.


Additionally, on August 1, 2026, the Northern Illinois Transit Autohority (NITA) will increase its occupation and use tax rate by 0.25% in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties. Read more about this increase here.

There's a NEW Commute in Town!

Pace has launched a new service in Geneva called "Van Go".

This is a reservation-based round-trip service for commuters that need a last mile connection from the Geneva Metra station to their employment site. This service is designed to be flexible for on-site and hybrid schedules. Riders will be able to call Pace to make a reservation for $5.00 per day and use the service within a predetermined zone that will target the major employers and industrial parks in Geneva, Batavia, St Charles, and West Chicago.
