Ella is a wonderful part of the Garage 31 family and a shining example of what it means to be a Batavia Chamber Ambassador. She always arrives with a smile, open arms, and a welcoming personality that makes everyone feel comfortable and included. Whether engaging with Chamber members or connecting with those who are not yet part of the Chamber, Ella brings genuine enthusiasm and a natural ability to build relationships.

Ella is also incredibly thoughtful in her follow-up, consistently providing helpful and encouraging feedback from her calls and interactions with local businesses. Her warmth, professionalism, and willingness to connect with others make her a wonderful representative of the Chamber and the Ambassador team throughout our community.

Nominations are Open for the 2026 Citizen of the Year!

The Batavia Citizen of the Year Award recognizes a local resident whose exceptional commitment and service have significantly enriched our community. The recipient will be the guest of honor at the Chamber’s annual Inspire Celebration on Thursday, April 29, 2027, at Revelry 675.

Award Criteria

• The nominee must reside in Batavia or Batavia Township, or have a business located within either community.
• The nominee must have assisted with an improvement or program of significant value to the community.
• The contribution must result from personal commitment and not primarily from the nominee’s employment or public responsibilities.
• The nominee may not currently serve on the Batavia Chamber’s Board of Directors.
• Chamber membership is not required.
• The nominee’s contributions to the community should be extraordinary in nature.

All nominations must be received by Monday, November 9, 2026. A committee of past recipients will review the submissions, and the 2026 Batavia Citizen of the Year will be announced in December.

Congratulations to Fox Valley Special Recreation Association!

Last week, we were honored to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Fox Valley Special Recreation Association (FVSRA) with a special ribbon cutting. A beautiful crowd of supporters, staff, board members, and FVSRA participants were in attendance to help celebrate this incredible milestone. Partnering park districts and chambers of commerce were also represented, including Batavia, Geneva, St. Charles, Oswego, Montgomery and Sugar Grove.

For 50 years, FVSRA has been making a difference in our community by creating opportunities for individuals with disabilities to participate, connect, build friendships and enjoy recreational experiences.

The celebration included a special proclamation read by Batavia Mayor Jeffery Schielke, on behalf of the recognizing this incredible milestone and FVSRA’s lasting impact on our community.

Congratulations to FVSRA on 50 years of inclusion, connection and fun! Here’s to many more years of making a difference!
