Happenings in and around the Chamber!
Welcome to Our New Members!

Happy Monday!

Let’s talk weather… If last weekend is any indication, the roller coaster ride otherwise known as 2020 continues. With the seemingly daily swings, if you don’t like what Mother Nature is giving one day, just wait, it will change.

Like most of you, we are watching the COVID-19 numbers move higher again. Not unexpected as a fall/winter spike has long been predicted. What it does mean is that the three W’s – Wash your hands, Wear a mask, and Watch your distance – are more important than ever. We urge you to keep supporting our local businesses in a way that you are most comfortable with. If this means more curbside pickup for you, our businesses are happy to oblige, just ask!

New Outdoor Dining Guidelines

The City of Batavia released fall/winter COVID outdoor dining guidelines this week. You can access them here.

Reminder! State Grants are Open

Applications for the second round of funding are still being accepted for the Business Interruption Grant (BIG) Program. These grants will be available to all small businesses statewide that experienced losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Grants will be awarded and funded on a rolling basis until funding is depleted. Application details, including links to eligibility criteria is available here.

Congratulations to Michael Flint, president of Batavia manufacturer Cast Aluminum Solutions, for recently winning a Business Ledger Entrepreneurial Excellence Award in the Innovation Category last month. We were excited to nominate them - they have a wonderful story to share! Watch for October's Business Ledger, where all the winners are introduced.

They even earned a feature article - it was wonderful to see Orrin Schwarz's story about CAS in last Friday's Business Ledger newsletter. Here's the story:

At one time, it appeared that Cast Aluminum Solutions' future was on the brink.

But when Mike Flint and his partners with private-equity firm LV2 Equity Partners took a close look at the Batavia company, the option to close the company fell out of consideration. Read the entire article and view more photos here.

Please join us as we celebrate the ground-breaking for Fox Valley Habitat's 68th home - and the first one in Batavia!
