The Batavia Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to announce that the August Ambassador of the Month is Carie Holzl! Carie is in her second year as a valued Chamber Ambassador and represents us at ribbon cuttings, events and makes phone calls on our behalf to our members. She also steps in to volunteer at Chamber events when her busy schedule allows.

A Batavian, Carie manages Holzl Homes, Keller Williams Inspire, a group of dedicated realty professionals with the mission to ensure everyone who works with them to buy or sell real estate has a positive experience. She serves on the Bethany Lutheran Church council and is the liaison to Bethany’s marketing committee. Congratulations to R & S Liquors and Wine!
The Batavia Chamber of Commerce celebrated the new ownership of Chamber member R & S Liquors and Wine with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The event took place on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at their location in Batavia, 415 E. Wilson Street.

Batavia Mayor Jeffery Schielke presided over the celebration, welcoming new owner Ritesh (Rick) Patel and his wife Meghna (Megan) to Batavia.

This long-time Batavia liquor store has received updates since Rick Patel took ownership last spring. Shoppers at R & S Liquors and Wine will still find their favorites but will also find a larger selection of top-shelf spirits and some new brands. The store itself has seen upgrades, including lighting, counters and point of sale software.

The establishment is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday – Thursday, with hours on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Call R & S Liquors and Wine at (630) 879-8424 to learn more about their growing beer, wine and spirits selection and watch for a Facebook page to come soon.

News and Updates from Our Members
The Batavia Women in Business Council held a successful afterhours networking event on Thursday, September 9. Our generous hosts were WindMill Grill & Pizzeria, who provided delicious pizzas and other appetizers.

The philanthropic partner was the Batavia Apartments, managed by Mercy Housing. Attendees brought a wide array of cleaning, personal and paper products to stock the "store" shelves. Through donations, $117 was also donated to them.

Thank you to Veronica Horton, the resident coordinator, who told us about services provided for the residents and how our donations will be used. Make plans now to join the Batavia Women in Business at their October luncheon, which will be held on Tuesday, October 12 at Eagle Brook Country Club. Registration is open!

A free, 24-hour miniature gallery, the first of its kind in Batavia, was erected at Grace McWayne School on August 16, 2021. Grace McWayne School is located at 3501 Hapner Way, Batavia.

Located at the top of the hill next to the blue stair rail at the school, the Free Little Art Gallery in Batavia enables the public to view the artwork of community artists, take home art pieces that they like, and add artwork that they themselves create. Read the entire press release.
