Congratulations to Batavia Chamber Member New Moon Vegan!

Jo Colagiacomi's café/bakery New Moon Vegan, was honored last week by the Daily Herald Business Ledger with an Entrepreneurial Excellence Award (EEA) in the Early Stage category. She is pictured here with a representative from the Daily Herald Suburban Business Ledger.

According to the Business Ledger, the awards "celebrate individuals and businesses for demonstrating the best traits of entrepreneurship, including the willingness to take risk, drive, perseverance and business creativity."

Having nominated New Moon Vegan for this award, the Batavia Chamber couldn't be more proud of Jo and her husband Jay for winning this honor! View the entire awards presentation here.

Road Construction Update - North River Street and Wilson Street Intersection.

During construction, which has now begun, the City will need to keep the intersection closed until the work is completed. Vehicles can access River street only from the State St. end of the block. There will be no access to Wilson St. from N. River St.

Delivery trucks that are not able to turn around within the block will need to be parked on N. River St. north of State St. or on State St. and bring deliveries to the stores. Garbage trucks will need to turn around and go back north on River Street.

The purpose of converting the street to one-way is to allow the city to be able to close the street without needing to get a permit from IDOT. If you have questions or concerns you may contact the City Engineer, Rahat Bari (630-263-1553). Read Batavia's announcement here.

Covenant Living At The Holmstad to Host 45th Annual Bazaar

This public event on Saturday, September 30 features a huge selection of hand-crafted items and more.

When Dave Anderson was eight years old, he was given a toolbox. That gift was the start of Dave’s inspiration for woodworking. Decades later, as a resident of Covenant Living at the Holmstad, Dave’s passion continues in the wood shop at the senior living community where he creates unique items that are sold each year at the community’s annual Bazaar. Those wooden pieces range from wooden toys, charcuterie boards, bird houses, and beautiful boxes. Read the entire press release for event details.
