Eye Associates of Central Texas was the people's choice winner at the recent Taylor Chamber's East WilCo Business Expo and Job Fair.


Agora Community Connections was deemed the most original booth at the Sept. 14 Business Expo and Job Fair.

A message from your Chamber

     A HUGE amount of gratitude goes out to the exhibitors and almost 1000 people who came to the 2019 East WilCo Business Expo and Job Fair last Saturday.
     We began the day with posting of the colors by local Boy Scouts and, what a day it was! Food, games and more than 60 awards and door prizes valued at more than $1,500.
    The Expo is a great way to learn about area businesses and for those businesses to meet face-to-face with the public to let them know what they have to offer. The following businesses were involved...

Celebrate our town tonight!
    Many things in this world are dividing our communities.  Let's come together as a community to support and cheer on our students.  The Team Taylor Tailgate party is a chance for networking and getting to know others in the community.
     Business leaders and residents are urged to celebrate our hometown at a community tailgate
 party 5:30-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, in the Duck Stadium parking lot.

Director of the Month
    The Greater Taylor Chamber of Commerce has selected Denise Solbach as its Director of the Month.
    Denise is an assistant cashier in the accounting/audit department with City National Bank of Taylor. Her 22-year career at City National was preceded by 10 years in the banking industry.
Solbach has been on the Taylor Chamber's board of directors for two years and chairs the Programs and Services committee which includes the Chamber's monthly luncheons, Ambassador, awards and training programs.
    "Programs and services speak to the heart of the Chamber -- its members," Denise said. "Our connection with area businesses and being a partner in their success is what the Chamber is all about."
She and her husband Ron have lived in Taylor 32 years. They have four children and four grandchildren.


Open house
    The renovations are nearly complete! Join us 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21,  to tour this beautifully renovated building that has been built out to house EIGHT beautiful Live/Work lofts and one designated retail space. This space still features original hardwoods, large open windows, and as many of the original characteristics as they could possibly maintain! This unique concept is one you shouldn't miss seeing.

Business of the Month
The Greater Taylor Chamber of Commerce recognized Friends of the Moody Museum as its business of the month for outstanding service to the Chamber and the Community. Friends of the Moody was nominated for its commitment to keep history alive at the museum through recent additions of story-telling and music events that delight and charm the community. Kid Fish
   The City of Taylor will host Kid Fish 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 21, at Bull Branch Park, 904 Dellinger. Registration for youth under 17 years old is 8-9 a.m.
   A limited number of poles and bait are provided; participants may use their own fishing gear. 
Bull Branch Park Lake is generously stocked with catfish prior to the event, which increases children's odds of a memorable experience. 
    The event is free, and we hope that through participation in the event, kids gain an appreciation for the sport of fishing as well as awareness for the environment and its natural resources. 
Prizes and trophies will be awarded immediately following the final measuring and weigh-in of the fish.

BBQ Cookoff
    Next weekend, Taylor will be smoking with the 29th annual Taylor SPJST BBQ Cookoff.
    The fun starts Friday, Sept. 27, at 7:30 p.m. with a  free dance with music from Sterling Country.  The SPJST will serve its delicious burgers at 6 p.m.
   On Saturday, a youth club silent auction will run from 10 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. 
    Judges are welcome to show up on Saturday and offer up their taste buds for a delicious good time.

Show you care for Taylor
    United Way of Williamson County's Day of Caring is set for Friday, Sept. 27.
    The day will begin at 8 a.m. with a kickoff at the Round Rock Sports Center, 2400 Chisholm Trail. There, volunteers will start the day with breakfast tacos, a Day of Caring t-shirt,
raffle prizes, and a short program.
    From 9 a.m. until noon, Day of Caring projects will take place across the county. Sign up  here for a project in Taylor, Cedar Park, Georgetown, Hutto, Leander,  Liberty Hill, N. Austin or Round Rock.

Run for a Good Life
    Good Life Taylor, Texas will host its annual fair and 5K Saturday, Oct. 12, at Bull Branch Park.
    The run begins at 8 a.m.  Early Bird registration ends Sept. 30 and costs $25. Registration is $30 after that and $35 on race day. Teams are encouraged to register by Sept. 30 for the team rate of $20 per person for a team of at least four. Pre-registration includes the run and a t-shirt.
    The Fair runs
 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and includes a free Kids K, a poultry petting zoo, chicken splat bingo and interactive displays. The free Super Epic Confetti Egg Battle is scheduled for 11 a.m.

Washer & Horseshoe Tournament
     Toss some metal, win some prizes and help Taylor Lions support the Leader Dog program.
    The 21st annual Walter Gonzales Foundation Washer and Horseshoe Tournament will be Saturday, Oct. 19,  at the Taylor SPJST Hall, 5025 FM 619. Register under the tent from 8 to 10 a.m. It costs $20 per team and spectators are welcome. Food will be available.

 LifePark Center will host a family fall festival 10 a.m-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct.  19 at Heritage Square Park. The event will feature a bounce house, petting zoo, Zumba demonstration, farmers market and more. Learn more at  www.lifeparkcenter.com
