Our season of live concerts begins on October 9 with a performance by virtuoso guitarist Martha Masters. Season tickets are now available. CDC and local authorities’ guidelines on masking and social distancing on the concert date will be in effect.)

Martha Masters studied with Manuel Barrueco at the Peabody Conservatory. She achieved international recognition in 2000 when she won first prize in the Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artist Competition and has since been active as a solo recitalist, chamber musician and concerto soloist around the world. Masters has recorded five albums covering much of the guitar repertory from Bach to current composers, including one album devoted to Spanish music and another to Italian.

Please join us tomorrow evening, Tuesday, September 14, at 7 pm Pacific time, for our monthly online open mic. The host, Chris Mann, is a member of the South Bay Guitar Society Board of Directors, a concert artist and local music teacher. We would love to hear you play a song or two. Chris Mann will be playing a concert with the Mission Chamber Orchestra at the Hammer Theatre Center in downtown San Jose on September 25. The concert is free of charge. To obtain tickets click here

The first practice session of our guitar ensemble meets Wednesday evening, September 15.
The South Bay Guitar Society is creating an ensemble composed of guitarists who have the interest and time to participate. You don't need to be an expert guitarist to join, just to enjoy a basic competence and a willingness to blend your voice with other players. Eugenia Teytelman is serving as coordinator. If you are interested in participating, please write to Eugenia for further information at: [email protected] Our first monthly practice will take place on September 15, 8-9:30 pm at Scott Perry's studio: 115 E Fremont Ave, Ste A. Sunnyvale 94087.

Don't forget our free online guitar technique classes with Scott Perry, a local guitar teacher. Please note that Scott has changed the day of his weekly sessions.
