UF Student Senate Acknowledges UFTI
A resolution passed by the UF Student Senate acknowledging the UF Transportation Institute’s efforts regarding self-driving vehicles through “I-STREET.” Senators Benjamin Elazar and Jessica Jesurajan, who authored the resolution, felt the efforts of the institute needed to be recognized by the Student Senate, and in extension the entire student body. The bill was passed unanimously when put onto the floor during the meeting.

UFTI SURF Interns Complete Summer Internship
Parfait Masungi and Matt Dean, recently completed a 10-week summer internship at the UFTI. Masungi worked with his faculty advisor, Dr. Lily Elefteriadou, on autonomous vehicles and the Gainesville Autobus. "I would like to say thank you and express my sincerest appreciation to my advisor, Dr. Lily, for giving the opportunity to contribute to the great work and research that is happening at UFTI,” Masungi said. He was also impressed with the multidisciplinary nature of the UFTI, and the Institute’s commitment to young researchers. “I believe these attributes are vital in order to push engineering and scientific research forward and promote collective growth,” he added. Dean was also grateful for the opportunity to work with the UFTI and his faculty advisor Dr. Siva Srinivasan.

UFTI Post-Doc Participates in Summer Academy at the Universidad de La Salle
Dr. Pruthvi Manjunatha, Ph.D., recently traveled to Bogota, Colombia to teach a course on “Sustainable Transportation Systems” at the Universidad de La Salle from July 16 to July 27, 2018. Dr. Manjunatha was chosen as a participant of the Summer Academy, which is hosted every year by the University. 

UFTI Affiliate Presents at International Conference, Foro Argos 360
UFTI Affiliate Chris Ferraro was invited to speak at the Foro Argos 360 conference in Bogota, Colombia, from August 9-10, 2018. The international conference was both lecture- and forum-based and covered three major topics: concrete materials (with the latest developments in cement products and their applications); infrastructure (a review of the investments in major works that are being done in the world and in Colombia); and buildings (with the technologies and construction systems that industrialize the construction through the application of more and more developed concrete).
