March of the Hawks (Formerly the Catholic Schools Walk):

Thank You for Making Our First Annual March of the Hawks a Success!

Total Raised so far: $12,207 - 58% of goal (as of 10/16/25 @ 9 a.m.)

Donations raised by our school will help us reach our fundraising goal of $21,000.

Last week was filled with meaningful and memorable activities as we celebrated our school community during the March of the Hawks. Here’s a look back at some of the highlights:

  • Tuesday: Students participated in a peaceful and prayerful Rosary Walk to start the week.
  • Wednesday: Following Mass, we were blessed to take part in a Eucharistic Procession, deepening our spiritual connection as a community.
  • Thursday: Students joined in a special spirit group activity, building camaraderie and school pride.
  • Friday Afternoon: The week concluded with an energetic pep rally in the gym!

52 students and four staff members attempted the Impossible Shot this year. While no one technically made the basket, Mr. DeMers gave a little assistance, and one of Mrs. Lestina’s shots went in—so we’re counting it as a win!

As a result, all students and staff have earned an upcoming out-of-uniform day—date to be announced soon!

The weather was perfect for our March of the Hawks walk on Friday evening.

We were thrilled to see so many families walking the path around our campus in support of our school.

After the walk, everyone gathered in the Parish Hall to enjoy pizza, fellowship, and fun. It was a joyful evening, and we’re so grateful for the sense of community that made it truly special.

And finally, a huge thank you to our amazing School Advisory Commission (S.A.C.) for planning and executing our very first March of the Hawks. What a feat! Thank you for all that you do for our school community!

There's still time to make an impact!

Families can still register and help us reach our fundraising goal. Our fundraising platform will remain open until November 16th.

Thank you for your continued support!

🚒 Fire Safety Day!

A big thank-you to the Richfield Fire Department for visiting our K4–4th-grade students last week. They were taught important lessons on fire safety and prevention — and even got to see the big fire truck up close and try out the hose! This annual visit helps our youngest Hawks learn how to stay safe and respond wisely in case of an emergency. We are grateful to our local firefighters for their service and dedication to our community!

Playground/Lunchroom Volunteer Program:

Interested in earning a tuition rebate? It’s Simple! We still need some volunteers!! You can earn up to $1,000 towards your tuition just by volunteering to help on the playground or in the lunchroom during the 2025-2026 school year.

  • Commit to a specific shift each week (ex., every Monday) for the school year
  • Complete a short training session
  • Earn $500 toward your school tuition (per shift: maximum of 2 shifts per family)
  • Grandparents of enrolled students are welcome to apply. Tuition discounts will be applied to the grandchildren’s account.

Shifts are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Contact Linda Schuh in the school office to sign up for this program.

If you are not able to commit to a shift each week, day-to-day volunteer opportunities may be available throughout the school year on iVolunteer. While these shifts are not a part of the tuition reduction program, it is still an opportunity to get involved.

In The Classrooms!

Middle School Science

Our 8th graders dug into some amazing science this week! 🦣 They explored the osteology of mammoths with materials from The Mammoth Site in South Dakota — examining casts and molds of real fossils to see how mammoths evolved and why they eventually became extinct. Students even created their own molds of woolly, Columbian, pygmy, and mastodon teeth.

PLEASE KEEP SCROLLING

Big News, Hawks Fans! 🏐

We’re thrilled to announce that both of our 8th Grade Volleyball Teams — the Boys (SG/SB/SMMF) and the Girls (SG/SB) — have been invited to the prestigious Seton Championship Tournament!

This is a major accomplishment and a testament to their hard work, teamwork, and competitive spirit all season long. Let’s pack the stands and show our support as they represent St. Gabriel and our partner schools on the championship stage on Oct. 27-31!

👏 Congratulations, Hawks — let’s finish strong! 👏

More information can be found here https://www.theseton.net/

🏀 Be the Heart of Our Basketball Program!

We are in need of a Basketball Coordinator (and Assistant) to help run our thriving basketball program.

This role is the key connection between our coaches, the league, our school, and the athletic director. You’ll help with uniforms, practice schedules, gym availability, and coordinating volunteers for home games. Without a coordinator, our program simply can’t run at its best—this is a chance to make a HUGE impact!

Whether you’re passionate about basketball or just want to give back in a meaningful way, this role is central to our athletes’ success.

🍿 Join the Team Behind the Scenes: Concessions Assistant

Love being part of the game-day atmosphere? We’re looking for a Concessions Assistant (Basketball Season Only)to support our Concessions Coordinator.

You’ll help with setup and cleanup for home games while our coordinator continues to manage supplies and inventory. It’s a short-term, season-only role that directly supports the fun and energy of basketball season!

This is a perfect way to get involved without a big-time commitment.

PARISH NEWS

All Saints Day

This year, the Solemnity of All Saints, November 1, falls on a Saturday, with the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed (All Souls’ Day) taking place on the following day, Sunday, November 2.

As a reminder, All Saints Day is not a holy day of obligation this year because of the 1992 decision of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops removing the obligation to attend Mass when November 1 falls on a Saturday or Monday. As a result, St. Gabriel will only have ONE Mass for All Saints Day on Friday, October 31, at 7 p.m.

The regular weekend Masses on Saturday at 4:30 p.m., and Sunday at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. will be celebrated for the Feast of All Souls Day.

CHILDREN'S CHOIR

NEW Fall Children's Choir is open to students in grades 3- 8 and high school as well!

Visit our website to learn more about rehearsal dates and Mass dates.

Altar Servers – New and Seasoned!

New Altar Servers: Are you interested in Altar Serving? Are you feeling called to assist Father at Mass? St. Gabriel is welcoming NEW Altar Servers, 5th grade through high school, to join this ministry.

Seasoned Servers: Thank you for your dedicated service to St. Gabriel as an Altar Server.

As we start another school year, we are updating all the training and procedures for our seasoned servers. This year, ALL seasoned servers are required to go through re-training to remain active in this ministry.

If you have not received information through the school or Christian Formation, please reach out to the parish office. Maryrose Wolf, Director of Liturgy, will contact you for re-training or connect with you to learn more about this ministry and set up a training session for you.

If you are in need of service hours, this ministry is an option for you to consider.
