Your Impact in 2025

With your support in 2025, Art with a Heart in Healthcare (AWAHIH) served 8 healthcare facilities in Jacksonville, bringing 20,000 fine art experiences to patients, families, and staff. Together, that’s more than 13,750 hours of visual art and music shared in healthcare spaces. Thank you for making this work possible. We’re excited for all we can do together in 2026.

The Art of Music On Display

The Art of Music patient art exhibition is now on display at the FSCJ South Campus Art Gallery and open to the public. The exhibit features custom-made guitars designed by Wolfson Children’s Hospital patients, inspired by their favorite songs and personal stories, created in collaboration with AWAHIH Artists-in-Residence.

New Board of Director Members

We’re excited to welcome Mary Lane to the AWAHIH Board of Directors. A longtime volunteer, Mary joined our board at the end of last year after earning her Master of Arts in Arts in Medicine from the University of Florida. Originally from Columbus, Ohio, she brings experience in television and video production and art gallery management. Mary says her favorite part of AWAHIH is “the people,” and she loves seeing patients light up while creating art.

We’re also thrilled to welcome Mark Elliott to the AWAHIH Board of Directors. Mark is a creative leader with a background in special events, brand launches, corporate galas, and donor experiences. He is known for using technology, design, and strategy to create meaningful, memorable experiences. Beyond his professional work, Mark has supported the Akita Rescue Society of Florida for more than 16 years. His commitment to service, innovation, and community impact makes him a valuable addition to our board.

Joidon's Journey

When Joidon’s medical journey first began, he was too young to make art himself, but our team still found ways to connect with him and his family. We painted and laminated his favorite cartoon characters so he could hold them close, and during long hospital days his siblings spent hours creating in the playroom.

Joidon’s brother, Jamiyan, had a natural talent for art and became the first sibling featured in our Patient Art Exhibition. Once Jamiyan’s piece went up at Wolfson Children’s Hospital, it became their ritual to visit it together every time Joidon was in the hospital.

“No matter what mood I’m in, passing by his artwork always brightens up my day.”

Joia, Joidon’s mom

Joidon always hoped one day his own art would be on the wall too. This year, Joidon passed away, but his story continues through art. Jamiyan is now creating a new piece in Joidon’s memory, using meaningful elements like Joidon’s handprints to honor their bond and the comfort they found through creativity.
