Life of inclusion for individuals with disabilities
News, Life-Stories and Events from UCP of Stanislaus County May 2021
From the Desk of Chris Martin
April was a busy month around UCP, one big project was our Love Turlock workday. Each year Love Turlock provides community members an opportunity to sign up to volunteer at various community service projects in the area. This year UCP was lucky enough to be chosen as a worksite. We had a group of volunteers from the community along with staff and board members who came out and helped do some gardening. Our Turlock facility has been in need of some attention in our outdoor area for some time. Volunteers removed bushes, cleaned up trash, removed weeds and helped prepare and fill 7 large garden containers. This area will be used to hold garden classes to allow UCP participants learn a valued farm to fork concept, to better understand where our food comes from and learn skills to use at home.
Thank you to all the volunteers who came out and spent their Saturday helping UCP and showing Love of the community!
UCP Landscaping Services
The workers & staff are “Friendly, thorough, thoughtful and hardworking."
"The place looks great!"
"They are doing a great job."
"We appreciate how the landscaping looks."
These are just a few of the wonderful comments the UCP Landscape Crew at McHenry Vista Condominiums gets on a regular basis. The comments come from residents and neighbors alike. COVID-19 has hit everyone hard, and it has been a struggle at times to maintain some of the contracts that UCP has with various businesses in the community. The Board of Directors at McHenry Vista has worked with UCP to help maintain the contract throughout the last year to make sure there would be a workplace to return to for the UCP Landscape Crew. Once the work crew was able to return, they worked very hard to make McHenry Vista look as beautiful as it is today. A big thank you goes to the Board of Directors at McHenry Vista, the staff and volunteers that helped maintain the property over the last year and most of all to the UCP Landscape Crew who continues to work hard at making McHenry Vista look so beautiful.
Camp UCP at Tuolumne Trails is back this summer! Help send UCP campers to camp by donating below. Each camper needs $610 to attend, any amount helps. Thank you for helping campers experience a fun filled week in the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains.
