This week's bag is themed for the grill. Summer vegetables are starting to shift away from the leafy greens to more substantial summer veggies, like cucumbers, cabbage, cauliflower, and zucchini.
And this week, the fruit is really starting to come on. Cherries, blueberries, and raspberries!
Our farmers are thankful for the heat and rain - although a little excessive at times. The summer is off to a good start and we are looking forward to the next few months!

Every crop, including livestock, has an optimal season. For us, summer is full tilt for livestock. Hogs are getting fat in the woods. Beef are mowing down the fresh grass. And our broilers - the meat chickens - are enjoying the sun and wind on pasture.
This week's bundles take advantage of some of our recent harvests.

Summer Mixed Berry Pie
At Wholesome Valley Farm, it is pie season. And this week, we are excited to offer the sweet-tart flavors of Blueberry, Strawberry, and Rhubarb under a double crust.
This pie starts with our signature flaky crust of organic Stutzman flour, local Minerva butter, and house rendered pork lard. Inside, we use organic blueberries and strawberries, organic cane sugar, and a touch of vanilla and spice.

This has become a seasonal favorite for many customers. Our zucchini bread features organic flour, organic sugar, and homemade applesauce for a natural sweetness and moist texture. Great toasted and slathered in butter.

This year we are trying something different. We know that the bag is sometime too much for one customer, too little for another, and just right for the 3rd. So each week, we are offering the protein from the bag at a discount.
This week:
Green Onion Brats - a long time customer favorite. A fresh pork brat loaded with fresh green onions.
Pork Shoulder Butt and Arm Roasts - well marbled and ideal for the slow cooker or smoker, the butt and arm roasts are great for pulled pork, pork stroganoff, or even homemade sausage. The difference - the butt is the more marbled top of the shoulder - between the neck and the rib chops. The arm roast is below the butt and includes a crosscut marrow bone and is a lower price.
