Family Humanitarian is thrilled to announce that starting June 2025, we will be opening a new expedition location in Tamale, Ghana, marking an expansion of our commitment to this part of the world.
For several years, Family Humanitarian has operated successful clean water and education programs in Northern Ghana. Our efforts have focused on improving access to clean water and empowering local communities through expanded classroom space. The impact of our initiatives has been profound, transforming lives and fostering progress in this region.
Despite these successes, we have been cautious about opening an expedition to Tamale in part due to the extreme heat and lack of precipitation during the winter months. With this in mind, we are only offering one summer expedition when the weather is more mild. Each group will have the opportunity to work closely with local villagers, engage in meaningful projects, and witness firsthand the transformative effects of their contributions.
The people of this region are incredibly resilient and welcoming, and their need for support and resources is pressing. The recreational opportunities are more limited when compared to Uganda and Kenya, but we believe some families will appreciate seeing and experiencing Northern Ghana and working alongside the deserving people there. We look forward to sharing this adventure with you and continuing our work to create lasting change in Ghana.
Check out the GPS map on our website to see the projects we have already completed in Northern Ghana: https://familyhumanitarian.org/what-we-do/. Website changes to the expedition pages reflecting this announcement including pricing and schedule will be posted no later than October 15.
