Marci Crawford Harnden, Imagine, 48" x 60", Oil on Canvas

Born in Missouri, Harnden is also a longtime resident in Dallas. She has been dedicated not only to the local art scene but also Houston where she resided for a number of years. Her paintings are of nature and the play of light and shadows. She comments that, "Organic forms; shadows and atmospheric luminosity are key elements in the new work along with a deep sensitivity to color. A newly added element in several pieces are lightly scored circular geometric patterns; a result of perhaps a moment of the meditative thought." Harnden's paintings go beyond the subject. They are a study of her physical process of painting. Her process is delicate but at the same time the paintings are scored, burnished, scraped, and involve removing paint then adding more....a process that allows light and luminosity to surface. To view the work is to fall into the paintings, rich in color and composition.  Harnden has accomplished her goal of sharing her personal views of nature in its most unobvious ways.

Marla Ziegler, Candy Gram, 7.5" x 38" x 2.75", Clay & Mixed Media

Clay sculptor, Marla Ziegler, is a respected and well known artist. Her unique shapes, glazes and creativity have brought her to the forefront of the clay community internationally. Her work has been featured and critiqued in local, national and international publications. With her upcoming Museum Retrospective Exhibition scheduled for 2014, Ziegler comments about this particular body of work saying, "I revisited more than three decades of work in creating this exhibition. Reflecting on former concepts and techniques has inspired many of the pieces in the show." Those familiar with Ziegler's work will understand and recognize shapes and forms from past exhibitions and installations. Ziegler works with low fire clay. She rolls the clay into slabs and presses them into a variety of shapes and forms. Her use of mixed media such as graphite, color pencil, wax and decal transfers identify her work as being unique, unusual and easily recognizable. Ziegler is Professor of Art and Art History, Brookhaven College, DCCCD, Dallas. She has served on many boards and contributed to the art community in abundance over the last 25 years. Not only is Ziegler a gifted artist but she has also devoted her life to art and in particular art in the North Texas region.

Kendall Stallings, The Deep End, 60" x 36", Acrylic on Canvas

Kendall Stallings is a Dallas resident, born in Little Rock. He began his art education in 1965 at the age of eleven and continued with his interest in drawing and painting into college. He graduated in 1980 with a B. A. from the University of Arkansas where he focused on photography and printmaking. After moving to Dallas, Kendall worked from 1982 - 2002 as a full time painter and art director for numerous corporate firms. During this time, Stallings also developed his style as a fine artist. Stallings' style is unique. His composition is often sterile and cold. Not giving too much information to the viewer visually, Stallings uses abstracted landscapes and figures only shown from the back and locations that seem familiar to all. His paintings often seem to slice into themselves. Blocks of composition, lay on top of another but always telling a story. Solemn, still, quiet, tranquil, and comforting; all of these words can be used to describe Stallings paintings. At the same time they are very interesting and bring memories and familiarity to the viewer.
