BEYOND the TEST:
INVITING SCHOOL SUCCESS
While schools struggle to deal with the negative consequences of high stakes testing, evaluation systems, and discouraging feedback about their progress, the
International Alliance for Invitational Education brings together educators from around the world to provide a simply refreshing and optimistic way to achieve balance and success for all students and staff.
The 33rd annual IAIE World Conference provides 37 keynote and breakout sessions led by school climate experts, researchers, and school leaders, to share how positive climates are critically important for increasing academic achievement, engagement, attendance, effort, and a love of learning. Inviting school awards, global learning and networking opportunities are all part of this exhilarating experience.
Invitational Education is a theory of practice that helps us understand how people and experiences in our lives constantly message us that we are able, valuable, and responsible, or we are not. Every message influences what we believe to be true about ourselves, and creates a positive or negative self-concept. Our self-concept influences our perceptions and the behaviors that we choose.
Invitational Education helps schools to become more
intentionally optimistic, respectful, trustworthy, and caring through the people, places, policies, programs, and processes of the school. The result is an optimal environment in which all students and staff may realize their full potential.
