Pastor Trudy's Message
The prophet (herdsman, arborist) Amos gives us another beautiful image this week, a basket of summer fruit. The message is not as encouraging as you may expect... remember they do not live in a time when they get fresh fruit year round. It is a sign of an ending, not a beginning. A big change is coming for the people who failed to heed God's warnings for them to pay attention, who failed to bring their lives into plumb with God's vision.
Good and gracious God, You intend prophets to give us warnings that invite change, but it can be hard to receive their messages. Open our hearts to see that we can trust You to lead us through even the most difficult changes. Our hope is in Your Son, Jesus, in whose name we pray, Amen.
