Update Ukraine - Family Stranded

Family from Bethel Baptist Fellowship, Brooklyn, NY Stranded in Poland

Tetiana writes the following to Pastor Bickel who relayed the emails to ORH.

"Dear Pastor Bickel,

Thank you so much for your response.

You asked me how exactly the church can help us.

First of all- please lift us up in prayer. Kids got sick because it is very cold here in Poland and they don’t have warm clothes. I myself have huge lymph node on the left side of my neck and I don’t know what that is- can anything from immune reaction to lymphoma. And I can’t go anywhere to take a look at that- I don’t have Pol’s card here in Poland and I don’t have money, I don’t have insurance in the U.S.

We need bare necessities like food and clothes, thankfully we still have shelter but I don’t know for how long. The organization that is paying for us keeps asking when we are going to move.

We need money to get to Frankfurt and to book hostel or room for 6 persons, including autistic child and 5 cats. We need to schedule interview in American embassy there and need to pay for visas, as well as we need to purchase airplane tickets to get back to NYC.

You can just tell church to pray and if someone will be willing to donate any money or maybe their unused miles that we can convert into airplane tickets- any help will he greatly appreciated!

May God bless you and church. I miss you guys. Hope the Lord will provide and will help us to return to the U.S. soon.

Sincerely, Tetiana"

"Dear Pastor Bickel,

Thank you so much for your email! Thank you for working with all these people on behalf of our family, I do really appreciate it.

So, regarding documents. My kids left Ukraine and entered Poland in the very beginning of the war, they have international Ukrainian passports with biometrics that allow them to travel within Schengen area, all other European countries, and obtain visas to enter the U.S....

Honestly, we plan to travel via ground transportation to Frankfurt, due to cost and other factors like having autistic child that gets agitated in transportation. I am trying to avoid frying within Europe until the last minute, when we will have to fly to NYC from Frankfurt.

Please feel free to connect me to Jan, he can call me at any time....

Thank you so much for all your kind help and support!

May our great God bless you and everyone who is trying to help and serve Ukrainian families who have lost homes and everything and became refugees.  Please pray for our journey home. It is very complicated, but I do see blessings every day.

And my son Daniel who is a soldier came to Jesus, when he miraculously escaped from being surrounded by Russians and they were firing from all sides. He left his body armour and saved his comrade and also lead 4 other people out of that deadly situation. He called me after this escape and testified that he prayed all time to God to help him and other 4 guys. They returned alive and other soldiers thought they were dead because the forest they were hiding in was totally burned out right after them.

My son now goes everywhere with Psalm 91 words and reads Bible to his fellow soldiers. He now has a reputation of “son of believer mom”. He told everyone how I told him to pray all time and cry to God. I hope other soldiers will also listen and read and will find God in these awful circumstances.

And he had similar experience just recently, when they were coming out of another dangerous spot and carrying a lot of wounded soldiers on their shoulders. They were dehydrated, hungry and tired, after defending one village in near Bahmut in Donetsk region. There were 50 of Ukrainian soldiers against 500 Russians with a lot of ammunition, tanks and missiles. And my son and his comrades only had handguns AK 74 and RPGs. Like fighting bare handed against well-equipped army that was 10 times bigger in size.

They starved and kept fighting. And walked out of that village carrying wounded soldiers. They all knew they will be immediately attacked and killed. But God covered the enemies eyes. Something happened and not even one gunshot was heard. Complete silence while they walked out for 5 kilometers.

When they were in safer place, they heard bombing and shooting behind, but they were far enough already. My son said- “Mom, He did it again”. There was no chance to escape and survive. They only lost one man and 30 soldiers carried out their 19 fellow comrades who could not walk. God covered enemies eyes. They were looking at them and not even one shot was fired until they walked away.

This is how I know God is Good and He is Great. He took care of my oldest son, he hears prayers and answers them.

Just wanted to share these miracles that my son experienced within last month.  So I do believe God will help is through his people and will provide from His sources everything we need.

Kindly, Tetiana

Tetiana and Her Daughter

Please pray for Tetiana's son.  This young man is too young to face the atrocity of total warfare.  Thank God, he believed in Christ, and he is an encouragement to his fellow soldiers to believe.
