The Colorado Opioid Abatement Council is now accepting applications for $2.5 million of the 2022-23 Opioid Infrastructure Share funds. 

Applications will be open until January 13th, 2023.

Local governments that participated in the Colorado Opioid MOU, Colorado Opioid Regions, and state agencies are eligible to apply for Infrastructure Share funds to develop the infrastructure necessary to combat the opioid crisis in Colorado. You can learn more about the funding opportunity and how to apply below and at this link.

Answers to questions submitted about the Infrastructure Share Funding Opportunity will be published on the COAC webpage by December 9th.

The Opioid Response Unit will be hosting a pre-application call on Monday, December 19th from 11am-12pm. The Opioid Response Unit will provide an overview of the funding opportunity, and attendees will have opportunities to ask questions.

What is the Infrastructure Share?
The Infrastructure Share was established through the Colorado Opioid Settlement Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that governs the distribution and oversight of opioid settlement funds received by Colorado.

The purpose of the Infrastructure Share is to promote capital improvements and provide operational assistance for developing or improving the infrastructure necessary to abate the opioid crisis within the state of Colorado.

Applications are due no later than 5 p.m. MT, Jan. 13, 2023.

Applications must be submitted via email to COAC@coag.gov.

All applicants must be either Colorado participating local governments or Colorado Regional Opioid Abatement Councils. Other entities may be part of joint applications, but the fiscal agent and primary applicant must be a Colorado governmental entity.

Colorado Consortium Grant Writing Assistance Program
The Colorado Consortium for Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention provides grant writing assistance program to help local government and non-profit organizations with limited budgets and limited in-house grant writing capacity to apply for funds.

New Behavioral Health Administration Community Grants
Please go to the BHA Funding Opportunities page to find info on four behavioral health grant opportunities available related to SB 22-196 and HB 22-1281 beginning December 8, 2022 and available on a rolling basis.

Find the following solicitations on the Colorado Vendor Self Service (VSS) Portal.

These grant opportunities are closely aligned to opioid related efforts and an excellent opportunity to braid funding. Projects can cover through December 2024.

  1. Community Investment Grant Program – approximately $34 million
  2. Children, Youth, and Families Grant Program – approximately $39 million
  3. Substance Use Workforce Stability Grant Program – approximately $14.5 million
  4. Criminal Justice Early Intervention Grant Program – approximately $49 million
Community Behavioral Health Services Assessment Toolkit
The Behavioral Health Administration, in partnership with Colorado Health Institute, developed a community behavioral health services assessment toolkit.

The purpose is to equip local leaders with information and approaches that can deepen their understanding of community strengths, needs, and gaps, and strengthen their investments in meaningful and equitable behavioral health solutions.

Synthetic Opioid Grant Program
The Colorado Department of Public Safety has funding available through the Synthetic Opiate Poisoning Investigation and Distribution Interdiction Grant Program.

This funding opportunity is offered to provide grants to law enforcement agencies for the purpose of investigating deaths and serious injuries caused by illegal synthetic opiate poisoning and for disrupting synthetic opiate supplies.
