Opioid Response Strategic Impact Grant Announcement
The Colorado Department of Law (DOL) announces that it is seeking applications from organizations working to combat the opioid epidemic in Colorado. The focus of this funding opportunity is to allocate Opioid Settlement Funds strategically across the state to generate implementable, far-reaching solutions to combat Colorado’s opioid crisis. 

The DOL’s intent with the Impact grant is to accelerate progress with transformative ideas. The DOL Opioid Response Unit (ORU) seeks partners that present actionable plans, with clear deliverables and timelines, that provide measurable impact in addressing the serious challenges of the opioid epidemic. 

Below is a list of targeted focus areas: 
  • Strengthen Peer Recovery Support and Peer Services 
  • Promote Culturally Responsive Substance Use Prevention, Harm Reduction, Treatment and Recovery Services 
  • Expand Access to Medications for Opioid Use Disorder, Naloxone, Contingency Management and Other Evidence-Based Clinical Interventions 
  • Bolster Housing for People with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) 
  • Develop Family Peer Support Services and/or Expand Treatment for Pregnant and Postpartum Women 
  • Promote Recovery-Friendly Workplaces​

Please review the Request For Applications (RFA) linked below for more information about the targeted areas of focus. Questions related to the Impact Grant should be submitted via email to procurement@coag.gov.

During this competitive process, no one but the procurement contact identified in the RFA should be contacted about this opportunity. However, please note there will be a single, optional Pre-Application Webinar where ORU staff will be present to respond to questions or comments.

 Submit Notice of Intent to Apply
Please note: to assist the program in planning for the application process (e.g., recruiting enough reviewers), it is requested that applications submit a non-binding Notice of Intent to Apply Survey no later than 5:00pm MDT on February 13, 2024.

The survey takes about one minute to complete. The Notice of Intent to Apply will be used solely for planning purposes by the DOL.

The survey will cover the following information:
  • RFA number and title
  • Organization/agency name
  • Contact information

The Notice of Intent to Apply does not need to include any explanations of the applicant’s qualifications or desire to receive grant funding.

Colorado County Jail Recognition Awards

Additionally, Attorney General Weiser announced the Medication for Opioid Use Disorder and Connections to the Community Recognition awards for Colorado County Jails.

Nominations are now open for a one-time $50,000 grant award to support jails to continue work.

Eligible nominees are exclusively limited to Colorado county jails. Nominators can include anyone from the public. The DOL encourages nominations from peer jail staff, sheriffs, individuals in the community, and individuals who have been incarcerated.

These awards are intended to recognize county jails within Colorado that have shown excellence or demonstrated progress in providing medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) and connections to the community upon release.
