NEWSLETTER | August 2022
A voluntary, county-wide collaboration focused on improving health,
health equity, and health care for Washtenaw's low-income, uninsured,
underinsured, and underrepresented populations.
The WHI’s Opioid Project is proud to partner with the Washtenaw Recovery Advocacy Project (WRAP) for the return of the Washtenaw County Opioid Summit. This year’s two-day virtual event will address a wide range of subject areas that are critical in the continued fight to address the harms
associated with opioid and other substance use in Washtenaw County.
Research demonstrates a connection between inclusive voting policies and greater levels of civic participation with better health outcomes. Later this month, the WHI will release a "Vote for Health" toolkit for member organizations and county residents that communicates important voting information and resources.
Stakeholders are encouraged to nominate a collaborative initiative that made a significant impact on community health over the past year. Collaborations can address traditional health access and quality initiatives, as well as key social determinants of health, such as food, housing, and transportation.
The lifetime achievement award recognizes faculty with distinguished achievement through a lifetime of inspired service, mentorship, and leadership. The WHI celebrates Dr. Williams for this special achievement and recognizes his commitment to service and special attention to helping
vulnerable patient populations.
