2025 Federal Actions and Impact on UC Davis Research

The Office of Research continues to work in conjunction with UCOP regarding the recent federal actions and the resulting updates from the federal research funding agencies. This includes the guidance on indirect costs issued by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) last Friday.

The Office of Research will host an online “Office Hours” session on Friday, February 14 where the campus research leadership team and others from across campus will provide updates on the latest information and answer your questions to the best of our abilities. For more information and to register for the event, visit our registration page. Attendees will have the opportunity to submit their questions after registering.

The Office of Research has also established a webpage to provide the latest updates, guidance and resources for our campus research community and are working directly with those affected by the changes. UCOP has also created a broader online resource

We appreciate your patience as we work diligently to analyze the information as it becomes available and respond in collaboration with campus leadership, the University of California Office of the President, and our federal governmental relations and legal counsel teams.

Apply for 2025 Start-Up Research Collaboration Award

Start-Up Research Collaboration Awards support UC Davis researchers who have ideas for data intensive projects but lack the technical and data science expertise to carry out the research. These exploratory, or early phase, research collaborations pair researchers with data scientists to gather data and/or perform preliminary exploration and hypothesis testing to make rapid progress over the course of one quarter on a data-driven domain research problem.
