SBA Extends Comment Period for Mentor-Protégé Program Consolidation
The Small Business Administration (SBA) extended the comment period for the proposed rule on the consolidation of mentor-protégé programs published in the Federal Register on November 8, 2019. The comment period was scheduled to close on January 17, 2020. SBA extended the comment period an additional 21 days in response to the significant level of interest generated by the proposed rule and requests from multiple stakeholders for an extension. Given the scope of the proposed rule and the nature of the issues raised by the comments received to date, SBA believes that affected businesses need more time to review the proposal and prepare their comments. The comment period has been extended to February 7, 2020. Read the published version https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/FR-2020-01-10/pdf/2020-00169.pdf

Success Story
Port City Contracting Services, LLC
By Donna Warren, PTAC Advisor at UNC-Wilmington

Port City Contracting Services, LLC, is a pharmaceutical wholesaler to the  government. The business has a primary focus of providing medications for  the 1.6M patients that the Veterans Administration (VA) treats with Type 2  diabetes. They have recruited an impressive team of highly experienced  professionals and have targets of $4M revenue in 2020 and $1B in 5 years.  Trey Sharpe started the business to obtain additional funds for his special needs child and has incorporated donating to a local child development organization as part of his business model. Trey proudly served his country as an Infantry Marine, teamwork,  sacrifice and service led to the start of Port City Contracting Services, LLC  (PCCS, LLC).

Along with a staff of the nation's foremost experts on pharmaceutical contracting, supply chain management, and strategic vision, leaders in the financial and pharmaceutical industry as well as a licensed pharmacist, to ensure the importance of following cGMP policies. Included in this phenomenal team is the co-founder, a successful career NFL player with a special focus on team building, team communications, and motivation to lead the team to perform their best.

Trey sought PTAC advice to assist with how to do business with the Federal government in July of 2019. PCCS, LLC has since acquired three Federal contracts with the VA in the amount of $600K after attending the PTAC advisors workshop: "Selling Your Products and Services to the Government". The client continues to  advice; receiving pertinent opportunities and industry events to further his business growth. There are plans to enter into Teaming Agreements as the business grows to impact the industry by seeking larger federal contracts. This client is also embarking on entry into State contracting arena. PCCS, LLC is primed to be a leader in the pharma community.
