C4C TIP
Remodeling? Consider appliances, solar panels, tankless water heater, low-flow water-saving faucets and toilets, replacement windows, additional insulation, and LED lights. The Environmental Protection Agency has ideas to help. Upgrade your home to care for your other home: Earth.
Join our WMC Care 4 Creation team! All are welcome. Contact Ellen Van Velsor at [email protected] or 336.509.8927.
Join us for next month's Good Works Wednesday! We are collecting kitchen items needed for the incoming Afghan family that West Market Street UMC will be supporting in partnership with Christ UMC and First Lutheran. Our activity will include packing grocery bags with non-perishable items and organizing the collected kitchen items. At this time, we do not have a family scheduled to come, but this will happen soon. This project will take place on November 3, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the modern worship space at West Market.

To register, sign up to bring items by CLICKING HERE. Even if you are unable to attend this event, please consider donating items. With any questions, contact MK Melton at [email protected] or Debbie Taylor at [email protected].
Scripture Readers for Worship
Would you like to participate in Sunday Worship? We are repopulating our list of Scripture readers and would love to have you involved. Persons with strong, clear voices able to project are encouraged to sign up using THIS LINK. If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Jill at [email protected].
Thank you for serving in this meaningful way.

Volunteers and Housing Needed
Many of you have expressed interest in helping with the resettlement effort for Afghans arriving in Greensboro. We are working with African Services Coalition, First Lutheran Church, and Christ UMC to co-sponsor at least one family and are forming teams to facilitate this resettlement. Right now it is uncertain when the families will arrive or when working with a family will begin. Our church has volunteered to furnish the kitchen in the apartment and is collecting items. Click here to sign up to donate items.  We need 4 or 5 strong people who can help us move some furniture to a central location this Saturday, October 23, at 10:00 am. If you can help, please contact Debbie Taylor.

Please click HERE to volunteer for one or more of the jobs listed. ASC is currently looking for housing and has asked that we assist with the search. If you have rental property or know of someone who does, contact Debbie Taylor at [email protected]
Join Our Instrumental Ensemble
Our West Market Street Instrumental Ensemble is preparing music for the Advent and Christmas seasons! If you play a woodwind, brass, or stringed instrument and would like to join this group of wonderful musicians, please contact Dreama Lovitt at [email protected]. Rehearsals are Thursdays: October 21, 28, November 4, 11, 18, and December 2, from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm, in the Sanctuary, and we will play for the 11:00 am Worship Service on Sunday, December 5. Players must be fully vaccinated. We adhere to the church's COVID protocols.
Traditions of Sacred Song
Sunday, November 14, 4:30 pm to 5:45 pm, in room 319
Join our Traditional Music Director, Dreama Lovitt, in an exploration of the global variety of hymns, spirituals, and songs of praise. A monthly series presented by The Hymn Society of North America and Canada, this first seminar will feature Dr. Kim R. Harris, a Liturgical Consultant for the Office of Black Ministry in the Archdiocese of New York and a renowned lecturer and performer specializing in the music of African American freedom traditions and Spirituals. A brief discussion will follow the viewing of her lecture as we contemplate congregational song in its depth and variety of styles and cultural traditions.
