GOOD TIDINGS
The Weekly Newsletter for Park Road Baptist Church
July 8, 2026
| | On May 31, our congregation affirmed the Five Directives of the Building. Community. vision plan. Over the next five weeks, we'll take a closer look at each directive, exploring the hopes, goals, and ministries they represent. We hope these weekly highlights will continue to help us better understand the vision we have embraced together and how it will shape the future of Park Road Baptist Church. | | Directive: Staff Development | | |
In our previous long-range Visions we used the word “initiative” to describe specific actions intended to come out of the plan. In Building. Community. we have chosen to use the word “Directive,” because of its implication of movement, action, guidance. Our previous Visions really have guided Park Road, making us the church we are today – our facilities, our leadership structure, our stewardship of openness with our campus. We trust Building. Community. will have the same directional impact on the life of our church for the next chapter.
A church is not a building. Our church is people. And the most important people are you. You are the ones who carry on the work, the reputation, the identity of Park Road Baptist Church Monday through Saturday. Thank you.
But also essential to the church are the paid people. The staff. We have an excellent staff. We work well together. We get along well. We enjoy one another, support one another, have fun together. A good staff is vital to the success of the organization.

Dan McClintock, Associate Pastor for Missions, has been with us for 11 years. He is stable and steady, confident, and wise. He's been with us through thick and thin, and is always working, mostly in ways that you do not see.
|
-
Caleb Foust, Associate Pastor for Children, Youth, and Family Life, is our newest minister (he just had his one-year anniversary in June). He is already making a wonderful difference in who we are and what we do. He and his family have brought a breath of fresh air to all that we do.

Leslie Gipple, our Operations Manager, has been with us for a decade. She keeps all our systems running, supervises any contractors, manages service contracts, and is the face of Park Road for our Campus Partners, and all our various renters. The campus is used seven days a week, and Leslie is there to make that happen.
| |
-
Becka Eppley, our Communications Director, has been with us for a little over 7 years. She manages the office and is the first face you see and the first voice you hear when you reach out to the church. She produces the weekly newsletter and manages all our social media content. She's a gifted writer and helps keep the "brand" of our church fresh and engaging.
| |
-
Allison Wieland, Finance Director, manages all the numbers. Allison is a CPA, and we are fortunate to have her. Our books and reports are in the best shape they've ever been. She has been a wonderful addition to our church staff for almost 10 years now.
| |
-
Heather Gaskins and Tammy Watkins are the co-directors of our Child Development Center. Both of these women have about 20 years of experience with the Park Road CDC, and we were excited to be able to combine their experience in a new leadership model for the CDC this past year, as our Co-Directors. As we head into a new chapter, an exciting expansion of the CDC, and the construction of a new building, it is wonderful to have these two experienced educators and administrators on our staff.
| |
- Finally, Bob Pritchard and Roxanne Holt Watson run our music program. We have enjoyed working with Bob and Roxanne for about five years. They are both fun and flexible, creative and capable. Our choir enjoys working with both of them, and the entire church enjoys the fruit of their labor every Sunday morning.
| | |
Directive: Staff Development, is designed to help us support and maintain wonderful staff colleagues such as these. Our Personnel Committee and members of the Vision Team have examined our staff positions, salaries, benefits, and feel our positions are well supported, but some additional funding for staff development would allow us to be more generous with support, more creative with opportunities of growth and development, and perhaps supporting our staff in the repayment of educational loans. The burden of seminary and other graduate education weighs heavily on many young ministers, and some additional funding through this directive might allow us to provide assistance that would be life-giving.
We are grateful for our wonderful staff,, and want to be able to express our appreciation, and to provide resources that would allow our colleagues to excel even more in their chosen fields of Ministry. Yes, all our staff are involved in the ministry that is ours together. - Russ

Sunday Worship
July 5, 2026
| | Jennifer's House Celebration! | | |
On July 19, we have two events planned to help celebrate the completion of our house in Marshall, North Carolina. We are so grateful to everyone who participated on site, or contributed for this very worthy cause. On Sunday morning, July 19, we will devote time in our worship service to recognize Jennifer Greene, and to give thanks for the good work of building a new home. Following worship, many of us will go eat lunch together, and then drive to Marshall where we will have an official ribbon-cutting ceremony at her house.
We invite all church members to join us for both of these events. The drive to Marshall is about 2 1/2 hours, but we felt it important to be able to celebrate on that site. We will end the day with refreshments on the bank of the French Broad River, just across the street from Jennifer‘s home. We anticipate the ribbon cutting to be about 4:30 PM with refreshments to follow. Please join us as you are able.

July Mission Offering Change:
Emergency Support for Roof Above
| | | | Due to an urgent need at Roof Above, the Mission Offering for the remaining Sundays in July is going to be dedicated to helping them recover from the major storm damage that their building sustained on Monday night, July 7. They have been serving lunch to neighbors for 30 years, and our mission offering will help them to continue that service. The offering for C3 (Christians Caring for Creation) will resume as our August Mission Offering. | | Family Knight Out - July 24 | | |
Join us for a fun evening at the ballpark as we cheer on the Charlotte Knights when they take on the Norfolk Tides! First pitch is at 7:04 p.m. at Truist Field, located at 324 S. Mint St., Charlotte, NC 28202.
Please RSVP by July 19 by signing up in Helt Hall on Sunday mornings, contacting Caleb, or emailing the church office at info@parkroadbaptist.org.

| | Congratulations to Ms. Chrystie on Her New Role! | | |
We are excited to announce that Ms. Chrystie has stepped into a new position at the CDC as our Curriculum Coordinator. This position is a tremendous benefit to our school! Ms. Chrystie holds a degree in Early Childhood Education and has more than 25 years of experience as a preschool teacher. Seventeen of those years have been with PRBCDC!
In her new role, she will support teachers with lesson plans and curriculum implementation, assist with classroom goals and child assessments, and strengthen instructional practices in the classroom. Her passion for curriculum development and teacher support makes her a great fit, and we are thrilled about the positive impact she will have throughout our program.
| | Walk with PRBC at Charlotte Pride | | |
I hope you’ll join us in walking alongside the Park Road contingent for the Charlotte Pride Parade. We’ll be joining a host of other churches and organizations in the ally march on Sunday, August 16. More details will come in July, but I am working to get ahead on participation, so if you would like to join us, please sign up in Helt Hall or RSVP to the church’s email (info@parkroadbaptist.org). Someone recently mentioned we are lacking in merchandise, so we’ve decided to order some shirts for all who would like one, whether you can attend or not. We will place a bulk order, so please order by July 26 by emailing info@parkroadbaptist.org. When placing your order, please include the size you would like and which front-of-shirt design you prefer. The back design will be the same on all shirts. The cost of the shirts will depend on the total number ordered; however, we expect to have a ballpark price available in the coming weeks. (Youth sizes Small - XL are available.)
