Registration Now Open: MAKING IT PUBLIC

A free five-week training series designed for artists interested in exploring and expanding their public artmaking practice, presented by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.

The New Jersey State Council on the Arts is pleased to invite New Jersey artists to participate in Making It Public, a free five-week virtual training series designed for artists interested in exploring their public art making practice. The State Arts Council urges artists in New Jersey to utilize this free training opportunity.

This year’s workshop series, comprised of five 90-minute virtual workshop sessions, covering practical and tactical subject matters, will be focused on early career public artists, but artists at all stages of their careers are invited to join. Session panelists include local and national public artists.

Making It Public is facilitated by Forecast Public Art Consultant Candida Gonzalez via Zoom. A pre-recorded video and preparatory materials will be emailed to registrants in advance of each week's Zoom session to support participants' learning.

Have you joined before? Join us again! What's different: New guests will join us and will provide more time for group discussion. Content will be geared toward early career public artists, although artists at all stages of their careers are encouraged to join.

Please note: Making it Public is designed to be interactive and attendees are encouraged to engage in the weekly topics. Sessions are not recorded to ensure privacy of registered participants and to foster a community environment.

The Morris Museum invites submissions for the 2026 New Jersey Arts Annual - Common Ground: New Jersey Artists Think Monumental, a juried outdoor exhibition of monumental sculpture, installations, and murals. This exhibition will transform the Museum’s 8.4-acre campus into a dynamic landscape of contemporary art.



All artists over the age of 18 who either work or live in the state of New Jersey are eligible to apply. All mediums are eligible. There is no entry fee.

Join the Teaching Artist Community of Practice.

The New Jersey State Council on the Arts is hosting quarterly Teaching Artist Community of Practice meetings. These virtual sessions serve as a platform for teaching artists to share their experiences, discuss new opportunities, and connect with each other and the State Arts Council. Through loosely moderated discussions, the sessions provide an opportunity to network with other New Jersey teaching artists, share challenges and successes of working in the state, and discuss what teaching artistry could look like as we move into the future.
