Soul Shop Suicide Prevention/Response & Mental Health CPR in Montreat
On May 15, 2018, we will host a Soul Shop training . At any given time, 1 in 17 adults (according to Living Works) and 1 in 6 youth (CDC Report) are considering suicide. The mission of Soul Shop is to equip congregations to minister to persons impacted by suicide or suicidal thinking.

This Soul Shop training will cost $20 and include lunch. It is designed for youth pastors, lay professionals, volunteers, and teachers to address the unique needs of youth ages 11 to 18 who are impacted by suicidal desperation, which includes youth who are currently engaged in suicidal thinking, youth concerned about a family member or friend who may be suicidal, youth who have lost a friend or family member to suicide, or youth who have recovered from a period of suicidal thinking in the past.

Our registration page isn't quite ready, but we wanted to let you know about this important opportunity in Montreat as soon as possible. If you'd like us to email you with more information as it becomes available, just click below!
2018 Youth Worker Sabbath Day
On Thursday, April 5, 2018, Presbyterian youth workers from around the United States and Canada will gather locally at camps, conference centers, seminaries, or anywhere else to engage in Sabbath practices together.
Montreat is excited to offer a special rate for Youth Worker Sabbath Day this year. For Thursday night only, we'll offer a special room rate of $60 (plus tax and community services fee) in Assembly Inn. Contact the front desk at [email protected] or call 828-419-9844 and request the PYWA room rate. Thursday lunch, Thursday dinner, and Friday breakfast will be available to purchase at time of reservation or on-site.

We will broadcast the 90-minute morning program from PYWA at 11am, and participants will self-select their afternoon Sabbath practices in Montreat or surrounding Black Mountain. The morning session is open to local youth workers who would like to commute in.
