New Jersey Arts and Culture Renewal Fund Grant |
Individual grants of $1,000 - $2,000 will be awarded to NJ artists that demonstrate the need for resources to cover expenses related to increased cost of living, traveling for teaching opportunities, artist materials or equipment, or to cover costs for participation for upcoming shows and sales opportunities. As Peters Valley's mission is focused on craft, preference will be given to artists working in craft media.

This 6-month program includes three 8-week placements, two with professional theatres and one with New Jersey Theatre Alliance, to learn about theatre administration and management in real-world contexts. A Style Nobody Can Deal With: Hip Hop, Black Aesthetics and the Arts of Social Justice |
The role of music and art in social justice movements is frequently defined as a creative representation of the movement’s goals (e.g., protest songs and posters). Here, we will consider how Black art practices, especially when they are socially and politically contextualized, constitute a unique vision and contribution to social justice. In this presentation and discussion, we will explore Hip Hop’s Black collage-making and sampling, as politically subversive in their own right.
