The New Jersey State Council on the Arts will award up to ten New Jersey Heritage Fellowships to exemplary folk and traditional artists. These Fellowships, which come with an award of $20,000 each, recognize lifetime achievement, artistic excellence, and contributions to our state's living traditional arts heritage.

The New Jersey Council for the Humanities is now accepting applications for the 2025 Community History cohort. Community History participants receive instruction on public history practices, develop projects in a collaborative environment, and are eligible to receive up to $5,000 in funding from NJCH to launch projects in their communities.

Call for Artists and Culture Bearers from Camden, Wilmington, Chester, and Philadelphia

This pilot program will showcase artists selected to work with six of the EPA’s National Estuary Program and Urban Waters Federal Partnership program locations doing critical work on water restoration and climate resilience.

Cultural Sustainability, a new grant program offered by the six U.S. Regional Arts Organizations (USRAOs) in partnership with The Wallace Foundation, provides general operating support to arts organizations rooted in communities of color with annual operating expenses under $500,000.

Access/VSA International Young Musicians Award

Each year young musicians who are part of the disability community compete to receive the Access/VSA International Young Musicians Award ($2,000 USD) and the opportunity to perform at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. in July. This program is open to musicians of all genres (classical, jazz, hip-hop, bluegrass, rock, and more).

NEA Big Read

Applications are now open for NEA Big Read grants to support community-wide reading programs between September 2025 and June 2026 under the new theme, “Our Nature: How Our Physical Environment Can Lead Us to Seek Hope, Courage, and Connection.” An initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts, in partnership with Arts Midwest, the NEA Big Read supports a range of events and activities designed around a single NEA Big Read book.

Join the Teaching Artist Community of Practice!

The New Jersey State Council on the Arts is hosting quarterly teaching artist community of practice meetings. These virtual sessions serve as a platform for teaching artists to share their experiences, discuss new opportunities, and connect with each other and the State Arts Council. Through loosely moderated discussions, the sessions provide an opportunity to network with other New Jersey teaching artists, share challenges and successes of working in the state, and discuss what teaching artistry could look like as we move into the future.
