Sharing the love of Jesus by welcoming, connecting, and serving.
Mid-Week Checkpoint
The apostle Paul reminds us that love binds everything together in perfect harmony. That's a lofty thought! What can it look like when we live it out?

This Mid-Week Checkpoint uses scripture, thoughts, questions, and a prayer to help us think through Sunday's sermon. To view this week's checkpoint (October 10), click here.
In our "Five Cups of Coffee" sermon series, we've been discovering our calling as followers of Jesus. All followers of Jesus are called to love, grow, and serve. If you haven't already completed the "Next Steps Survey," please take a few minutes to complete this questionnaire. Thank you!
SAVE THE DATE!
Rain or shine, we'll meet in the parking lot on Wed., October 27, from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. to open our hearts and car trunks to the people in our community through Trunk or Treat. We plan to have a food truck for dinner and a night of fun fellowship. If your family is willing to host a trunk, please email Paige Morgan.

  • Trunks will provide treats for 300 Trick or Treaters. (We encourage no peanut candy and maybe having some allergy friendly treats available)
  • You can decorate your trunk and wear costumes if you like, but it is NOT required.
  • Trunks arrive and set up by 5:30 p.m. and leave around 7:15 p.m., once we clear all trick or treaters from the parking lot
SERVING OPPORTUNITIES:
Can you help serve lunch to our homeless friends in downtown Knoxville? Our next service date is this Sunday, October 17.
We are asking for volunteers to serve immediately following the worship service (noon - 4:00 p.m. or a portion thereof). We're also looking for volunteers who can deliver the food to Care Cuts the day before (Saturday, October 16) between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. Directed donations to assist in the cost of the food are appreciated as well.
For more information or to volunteer, contact Stacey Breeding.

You're invited to join the Builders class on Saturday, October 23, to help paint an entrance foyer at Magnolia Avenue UMC (2700 E. Magnolia Ave., Knoxville, TN 37914). They're beginning a new ministry for the community on Sunday evenings beginning November 7.
Let's meet at Pete’s Coffee Shop downtown (540 Union Ave, Knoxville, TN 37902)
at 8:00 a.m. and begin work at the church at 9:00 a.m.
All are welcome to help with this service project!
It's that time of year again! Christmas Community Day (CCD) is Sunday, December 5. Instead of a meal this year, we plan to have hot chocolate and cookies for our guests. Here are ways you can help:

Bring your children’s books or adult books. We will trade them at McKay’s for credit to purchase children’s books. Or, if you prefer, you can take your adult books to McKay’s and get a credit slip. Just place the credit slip in an envelope and put it in the “McKay’s" box. If you have questions, contact Camille Rainey.

We are collecting gently-used coats in all sizes, as well as hats, gloves, and scarves. The “Coat Box” is located on Main Street. If you have any questions, contact Denise Viator.

Wesley's Attic needs gently-used fall and winter clothing (newborn to child size 16). Clean and in good-condition sneakers are also appreciated. Donations can be brought to the church office Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m..

You can buy a new toy (approximately $10) and place it in the giant gift box on Main Street or, you can drop off a donation to the church office, and we'll shop for you. We also need about 300 medium to large Christmas gift bags for the toys. If you have any questions, contact Kathy Cleveland or Karen Warnick.

Thank you for your continued generosity as we reach out to our neighbors in need!
Many members of our FFUMC congregation graciously donated money in June and July for school supplies which were given out at our Mobile Pantry/Wesley’s Attic event in July. Those donations exceeded the costs of the supplies designated for “School Supplies.” Wesley’s Attic would like to use the leftover funds for undies and socks for the children at our upcoming Community Christmas Day on December 5.
If you have any concerns regarding this change, please contact our Serving Team Treasurer Jeff Cleveland at clevelandjt@icloud.com, by THIS Sunday, October 17. Thank you so much for your support!
