Since July of 2005 First Farragut UMC has been taking in homeless families three or four times a year for a week at a time. We provide them with safe shelter for the night and good food while
Family Promise of Knoxville
works with them finding jobs, education or training, childcare, and a new lasting home.
Our next rotation of Family Promise, the week of July 12-19, will be very different than in the past due to COVID-19. The families will not be with us at the church, they will however, shelter at the Family Promise Day Center. Even though they will not be with us, we will support them every way we can during this week.
Our wonderful church volunteers will still prepare a wholesome meal for three families, and we will deliver it as individual meals along with drinks and desserts each night. We will also provide them with a small stipend for the week so they can purchase breakfast and lunch supplies and incidentals that we would supply if they were here. One of the young women is due to have a child on July 15 and the ladies of Wesley’s Attic have put together a bag of infant clothing. Please keep these families in your prayers, this is a terrible time to be homeless, as if anytime is a good time. If you have any questions or would like to help, please contact
