TRUTH: What the Catholic Church Really Teaches
Grow in truth...
Formerly known as the Apologetics Forum, this free series will discuss topics within the Faith that many of our contemporaries disagree with or don't ascribe to. Many of us believe the Church's teachings but don't know how to speak about them with our neighbors, co-workers, and children. This series will change that. TRUTH: What the Catholic Church Really Teaches will prepare every day lay Catholics with the tools of how to discuss the challenging teachings of our great Faith.
Scripture Alone?
Have you ever been asked or wondered…If we have the Bible, do we really need Church teaching? Does the Bible talk about Tradition? Join us as Kelly Anderson discusses how to answer these and other common questions about the relationship between Scripture and Tradition!

Is Reason Opposed to Science?
The Catholic Church has always held that religion and science are not enemies, but rather two complementary paths to truth.

However, there is a growing claim in the culture that religion and science are diametrically opposed to each other.

To address this modern myth and set the record straight, Bishop Robert Barron's Word on Fire is launching a new initiative showing how religion is not opposed to science.

His new website, reasonfaithscience.com, offers information about several Catholic pioneers in various scientific fields, videos and other content from Bishop Barron on the subject, as well as free posters highlighting some of the Catholic Scientists that are ideal to place in classrooms.

Catholic Basics
Grow in faith...
In what way is the faith of the Church one faith alone?
The Church, although made up of persons who have diverse languages, cultures, and rites, nonetheless professes with a united voice the one faith that was received from the one Lord and that was passed on by the one Apostolic Tradition. She confesses one God alone, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and points to one way of salvation. Therefore we believe with one heart and one soul all that is contained in the Word of God, handed down or written, and which is proposed by the Church as divinely revealed.

Be Prepared
August is a time of preparation in our culture. Many prepare for school to begin with shopping for school supplies or taking that one last vacation before the summer ends. Some people prepare for their budgets to begin including pumpkin spice lattes.

Preparation is a good thing. We can think of Jesus' parable of the 10 virgins (Matthew 25:1-13) and how some were prepared with enough oil for their lamps and others were not prepared and therefore not admitted to the wedding feast.

We often will take the time to prepare for our earthly anticipations, whether they be needs or wants. We try to prepare for the unknown circumstances of life by saving money for when an emergency comes up, we save to make large purchases like a house, or we save for retirement. Do we spend that same energy preparing our hearts for Christ? Do we often put it off until tomorrow? We are not only speaking of the end times, or even the end of our individual lives, but the beginning of our weeks as well. Are we preparing ourselves to encounter the Lord in the Eucharist every week? Our Eucharistic intimacy with the Lord will be greatly increased if we are sure to prepare daily by making time to encounter Him through ever-deepening prayer lives.

Let us Praise the Lord.
-And give him thanks.
Thank you for reading. We pray that you have a restful end of summer. Hopefully we will see you at some of our events!

Deo Omnis Gloria.
