Caldor Fire Relief Efforts & Opportunities

In the first few days of the Caldor fire, Faith Church was contacted by The Cameron Park HUB and El Dorado County as they searched for appropriate locations for evacuation centers. Later, the County was able to establish sufficient evacuation centers that could provide showers, bathrooms, and meals for evacuees and so our parking lot was not needed as a major evacuation site. However, our parking lot will continue to be available for self-contained RV's as needed.
On Sunday, August 22, those who were interested in working on fire relief met after church. Catherine Maloney volunteered to coordinate our efforts. This email outlines the outreach efforts thus far and opportunities for the near future.

If you have additional questions, please reach out to Catherine at (530) 488-8172 or by email at
Outreach Efforts and Opportunities
Dear Friends in Faith,

A team has been assembled to coordinate our fire relief efforts. We wanted to provide an update on Faith’s efforts and let you know of ways you can assist or provide support.

Through your generosity, the work of the Mission Team, and funds provided by the Diocese, we have made significant contributions to local organizations that are directly meeting the needs of those who have been displaced or lost their homes in the fire.

A cash donation of $1000 was sent to the El Dorado Community Foundation. They have a streamlined grants process in place for those who need financial assistance.

The Pioneer School District Parent Teacher Association is distributing grocery and Target gift cards to staff and families in need. We contributed $1600 to their efforts. Pioneer School District includes Grizzly Flats and most of the areas where homes and a school were destroyed.

The Red Cross and Cameron Park CSD referred a family to us. A young mother and her two sons lost their home and are living with a family member in Folsom. We were able to provide new and gently used clothing and shoes as well as gift cards for groceries and other necessities. The team also assisted the mother with completing the Community Foundation grant request. We will continue to keep in touch with her to see what her needs are in the coming weeks.
Grocery gift cards have been provided to several other families who were living in vehicles or have displaced family members staying with them.
We are also aware of 36 employees of the El Dorado County School district who have been displaced by the fire, two of whom lost their homes. We are working with the District representative to see how we can assist.

There are multiple ways that you can support those impacted by this disaster. Financial support options, volunteer opportunities, and requests for more tangible items are outlined in this email.

Thank you for your generous support of those in need and for continued prayers for our community!

Sincerely, Catherine Maloney
