This is a time with so many opportunities to connect and serve!
We hope to see you tomorrow morning at 9am or 11am for worship at the First United Methodist Church of Eugene!

In 9am worship we welcome guest organist Karen Williamson who will be accompanying the amazing music that is planned for our annual Advent Choral Sunday! Even the rehearsal this past Wednesday was amazing!

Our 11am worship musicians have been working on some great music, and we are particularly grateful that Peter Hollens will be joining us for a rendition of December Song - which you can preview by clicking here!
Of course if you can't wait for Sunday to participate in some amazing music...
You are in luck! Come by the church this afternoon and experience our annual community Messiah sing! Handel’s timeless work sung by the audience!

Plan to be with us from 3:00pm - 4:30pm, but you can come at 2:15pm for an interactive examination of Handel’s Messiah, lead our creative director Paul John Rudoi.
Over the past couple of weeks we have been diving into the prophecies that foretold of Jesus coming. The prophecy to Zechariah, the prophecy to Mary, and last week the angel appearing to Joseph in a dream.

This week the Christmas story nears an apex - taking us right up to the brink of Jesus arrival - as Mary and Joseph make the trek to Bethlehem together. You can get an advance look at that story by clicking here!

This story has so much to offer us in this season, as it recalls the power of our histories, and affirms that God's work in this world on behalf of the least and the lost, cannot be stopped.
Grateful to be on this
Advent journey with you!

Sunday Morning Men's Group!
The men's group is meeting tomorrow at 8:00am!

This is a great group of guys, and they are particularly good at welcoming first-timers - oh, and they always have great coffee! They meet in the church library!
Creative Ways to Give!
On your green sheets Sunday you will see this image! It is a QR code, and if you have a smart phone, its camera will recognize its unique pattern, and direct you to our giving website! It is a great way to give to the church if you find yourself without a checkbook on Sunday morning! Let the church office know if you have any questions!
Conference-wide Study in December!
This December we have a really incredible resource that is informing our ministry together - a great book by Brian McLaren, “We Make the Road by Walking.”

We have some great Advent reading groups coming together to explore this book together. Right now, we have groups forming up:

  • Tuesday evenings - 7pm at Falling Sky (a short walk from the church)
  • Thursday mornings, 9:45am in the church library
  • Sundays at 10am in the chapel and in room 19

Our hope is that these groups will be permeable - one week it may work out for you to join the Tuesday evening group, but another week it may work better for you to attend the Sunday discussion.

All are welcome!
A Brassy Christmas!

Sunday @ 3:00pm
Oregon's only British-style brass band pours forth music of the season celebrating community. OBS's distinctive array of brass instruments and percussion will fill this great venue with a warm, rich sound that sparkles, soothes the soul, and pleases the ear - and, yes. There will be marches! Led by Dr. Chris Chapman, OSU’s director of bands, this all-volunteer ensemble, based in Eugene-Springfield, includes members from throughout western Oregon.
