Another way you can make a difference!!! Energy efficiency in Houses of Worship!
Please read the information below about possible grants for us to $200,000 for Houses of Worship. This is not a firm committment, but for us to have you in our data and submitted to the grant proposals and you would learn more after we know who gets the large grant. Also, some of you are wondering about the IRA solar. More will be coming on that, that pool of funds is in a regulatory processs for comments, which we will be making.

Join our Grant Proposal to Make Your House of Worship More Energy Efficient
The Department of Energy (DOE) is granting $45 million dollars through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to make nonprofits more energy efficient, and New Mexico Interfaith Power and Light is working with the Unitarian Universalist Church in Las Cruces and the national IPL to submit a proposal for some of this funding for our communities.
We are reaching out to congregations across the region to see if you have an energy efficient project that the grant could help fund.
The grant will provide up to $200,000 per project for energy efficient improvements for buildings owned by 501(c)3 non-profits. This includes: materials (product, equipment, or system) and their installation. Examples include:
- lighting upgrades,
- roof replacements with insulation,
- HVAC upgrades,
- and door or window replacements.
- (Unfortunately, it doesn't include solar.)
Note: the grant provides 80% of the money for the projects, meaning that non-profit will be responsible for 20% of the cost of the project (though the 20% can be in-kind).
We are inviting houses of worship and related non-profit organizations to join with us as “subrecipients,” meaning that the UUCLC and/or national Interfaith Power and Light will administer the grant and then distribute the money to the subrecipients.
