Visit Wales is working closely with VisitBritain, who are delighted to announce that a National Lottery Days Out (NLDO) campaign will be kicking off on 3rd July 2023 

The new campaign, commencing 3 July 2023, will allow National Lottery ticket holders to receive a £25 voucher to spend on over 500 UK attractions, experiences and guided tours. 

 

Lottery ticket holders will be able to choose from any participating experience available on the VisitBritain Shop. They will enter their National Lottery serial number on a dedicated landing page to obtain their unique code to use on the shop and receive their discount.

 

This is fully sponsored by the National Lottery Days Out initiative in partnership with VisitBritain. It is important to note that your experience will not be discounted, the value of the £25 voucher will simply go against the standard retail price advertised on the site, and therefore your process for payments will remain the same.


This National Lottery campaign is one example of how the VisitBritain Shop is being used by VisitBritain for campaigns domestically, as well as to attract more international visitors, so making your product available on the shop will lead to other long-term opportunities.

Your commitment


If you are selected to participant in this initiative, your products on the VisitBritain Shop will be tagged. In return, VisitBritain require that you:


  • Make sure that your calendars display a minimum of six months of active availability from July 3. Offering extended availability enables consumers to make use of their vouchers even beyond the summer peak season. Ideally, this would extend up to January 2024 if you're aware of your future rates.


  • Ensure that booking dates are available throughout the week on the VisitBritain Shop.


  • Keep your page on the VisitBritain Shop platform fully updated. This includes accurate descriptions and visual content.


  • Commit to regularly marketing this campaign to your existing consumer base. Encourage customers and social media followers to visit, or revisit, your business. This could mean bespoke emails, or regular social media posts (including those that show prices and savings).


Important Information


Attractions, theaters, tours, and excursions that necessitate an entrance fee are eligible for participation, provided they meet the required criteria and have availability. Further specifications are:


  • Register with the VisitBritain domestic shop and the TXGB platform, agreeing to both their Terms and Conditions.
  • Propose a product or service that involves a payable entry or fee.
  • Different experiences like attractions, day tours, walking tours, etc., are encouraged, particularly if they're conveniently accessible by car or train.
  • The campaign does not cover overnight stays.
  • Although alcohol experiences are not part of this campaign, they can be incorporated in ongoing experiences offered on the website, like distillery tours or pub tours.
  • Maintain a continuous relationship with VisitBritain Shop as their contracts are usually revised annually for mutual benefit.
  • Understand that SEO page discovery and ranking by Google takes time, hence a minimum sales duration of 12 months is suggested.
  • Offer online booking facilities, or be willing to do so through the TXGB platform.

About the TXGB Platform

The involvement of TXGB ensures that attractions and activity providers have the opportunity to access the TXGB platform and maintain a presence on the VisitBritainShop.


There is no fee to be included in the campaign. You will, however, need to agree to the TXGB and VisitBritain Shop terms and conditions, which include a small booking fee of 2.5% and a commission rate of 15% on any sales generated.
