Raytheon Co. delivered the first high-energy laser counter-unmanned aerial system (UAS) to the U.S. Air Force in October 2019. Its high-energy laser weapon system uses an advanced multispectral targeting system (MTS) - an electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) sensor - to detect, identify, and track combative drones. Once targeted, the system engages with and neutralizes the aircraft in seconds.

Note: Raytheon's video in this article is a good resource to use during outreach and information events when exploring modern uses of lasers.
