Dear Steve,
DID YOU KNOW that a phytochemical found in pomegranates and walnuts that we recommend all the time to clients supplementally improves memory and treatment of Alzheimer's disease?
The study in Alzheimer's & Dementia found that urolithin A supplementation removes weak mitochondria from the brain. The lead author states, "Many patients with neurodegenerative diseases experience mitochondrial dysfunction, also known as mitophagy. This means that the brain has difficulties removing weak mitochondria, which thus accumulate and affect brain function. If you are able to stimulate the mitophagy process, removing weak mitochondria, you will see some very positive results."
We've been saying for the last few years and for much more than Alzheimer's :) If you want suggestions for dosage, email Steve.

Warning: Counterfeit, Adulterated Supplements Online | On the internet, especially at Amazon, there is an epidemic of counterfeit, adulterated, and purposely mislabeled dietary supplements. In September 2023, a man was arrested for selling counterfeit Pure Encapsulations products. A study from JAMA Network Open found that half of immune products analyzed from Amazon had labels that did not match the contents. The FDA sent a warning letter to Amazon in later December 2023.

Steve: A very interesting study from Diabetologia examined what would be the best way to balance our 24 hours to optimize health. The researchers specifically wanted answers with regard to prevention of heart disease, stroke and diabetes.
They looked at five common activities: sleeping, sitting, standing, light activity and moderate to vigorous activity. After millions of permutations were crunched, here's how those activities were optimally broken down over 24 hours.
- Sleeping - 8.3 hours optimal with a range of 7.3-9 hours
- Sitting - 6 hours with a range of 5.4-7.1 hours
- Standing - 5.2 hours with a range of 4.1-6.1 hours
- Light activity - 2.2 hours with a range of 2-2.2 hours
- Moderate-vigorous activity - 2.2 hours with a range of 1.4-2.2 hours
Light activity was as defined as walking less than 100 steps per minute (such as walking to the bathroom or strolling casually with friends).
While the moderate-to-vigorous physical activity time was quite high, they defined it as more than 100 steps per minute. This equates to a brisk walk.
They found that interrupting sitting regularly with light-physical activity (such as taking a 3-5 minute walk every hour) was immensely beneficial for prevention.
I don't agree with the sleep range as I think 6-8 hours is ideal. But all in all, I think this gives you a great blueprint to strive for.

In April of 2023, we published the following case report. You'll find an update from him at the end.
"A male in his mid-30's came to us with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis, uncontrolled type 1 diabetes, depression, severe fatigue, severe pain, weakness, vaped daily, was a recovering alcoholic, and was mostly confined to a wheelchair.
With Steve's guidance, this gentleman was given the tools to completely transform his eating habits. He was advised to cook for himself and stay away from certain foods and beverages, such as diet soda, that could exacerbate his conditions.
He started taking targeted dietary supplements to augment his lifestyle transformation. He was given suggestions about how to incorporate more physical activity and limit the amount of time he was sedentary. He was given ideas for practicing stress management for mental health.
At his 3 month followup, the first sentence he uttered was, “life is good.” He was balancing his meals, enjoying cooking, and not late night eating. He was in a great place mentally because of meditation and chakras. He was performing daily physical activity and limiting the amount of time being sedentary.
Thus, he reported more energy, his diabetes was under control, his inflammation had gone down, he was getting good sleep, and his body was looking more fit. This was all without eliminating vaping. He said that would be his next challenge.
This is yet another example of how multimodal lifestyle modifications can have immediate results, even in those presenting with the most severe of issues. However, it must be noted that this gentleman went all in to put in the work. We can give you the tools, but you have to put it into practice."
UPDATE FROM MAY 6, 2024
After quitting smoking and adhering 100% to his diet, lifestyle, and alternative therapies, this mostly wheelchair-bound man emailed Steve this...
"I wanted to thank each one of you for your role in my health! Each of you KNOW where I was and where I'm headed. I wanted to share with y'all that I completed a 1.3 mile hike.
Anyway, we did it safely with my "naturalist" class. Surrounded by helping hands, if needed... which we did not 👍
The BEST part, was the day after! Pain levels, no more than a 2 in certain areas. Energy levels medium-high. Mental/emotional levels high. No OTC or prescription drugs needed to help with recovery!
BUT, I did use tools before, during, and afterwards that were taught by you!!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! I couldn't have even contemplated the THOUGHT of this before we met. 🥰"
Did you have a great experience working with us? Please let others know by leaving a review here.

An Attack of Bell's Palsy
|
In Chicken Soup for the Chiropractic Soul, a 74 year old woman woke up one day with one side of her face drooping. She went to the urgent care, fearing that she had a stroke yet was sent home with muscle relaxers.
She trusted her chiropractor and immediately called him even though she had moved 40 miles away months earlier. The chiropractor told her to come in and see what he could find. When she walked into the office the chiropractor noticed that her right eye drooped, her cheek sagged terribly and the right side of her mouth was drawn down.
The fact that she walked in just fine and that her penmanship was neat and legible, pointed to her having Bell’s Palsy. The chiropractor took some x-rays and began working on all areas related to her symptoms. Bell’s Palsy is a temporary paralysis of a facial nerve and the chiropractor’s approach was to release stress on and around that nerve.
After her adjustment she walked back into the reception area surprising her husband and the office staff. They immediately noticed that her face was essentially normal and only had a slight turn down of the corner of her mouth. She was so excited that she had her husband drive her back to the urgent care facility to show her response to the chiropractic care.
She went back to her chiropractor the next day and after a few visits had a full recovery. How fortuitous that she reached out to him for a drug less approach that resulted in such effective outcomes. A wonderful reminder to consider reaching out for chiropractic care as a natural approach to your health symptoms.
