Optional Reporting of Dam of Calf
Did you know? You can include the dam tag number when reporting tag activation/birth of calves.
Here’s how:
Simply select the dam from your animal inventory list, usually using the dam’s Management ID linked to the official DairyTrace tag number.
Or enter the dam tag number (i.e.: 1240000…) manually.
Why has this field been added in DairyTrace?
While it is voluntary, including this data is important in some situations for animal health surveillance.
Tracking vaccinated dams of veal calves helps meet international standards required for exports.
Knowing the dam information for beef-on-dairy crossbreds as well as slaughter-related data, will enable dairy farmers to receive valuable information in return to help maximize farm profitability.
