Optum Care Termination April 30, 2019

Applicable to: Mercy Care Long Term Care and Mercy Care Advantage
On April 30, 2019, the contractual agreement between Mercy Care and Optum Care, also known as Inspiris, will terminate. Optum is a medical provider group that works with assigned Mercy Care physicians and Nurse Practitioners to provide oversight and treatment for approximately 1,200 of our members that reside in Skilled Nursing Facilities in both Maricopa and Pima County.

Optum Care and Mercy Care have enjoyed a strong partnership for years and are committed to ensuring a smooth a transition for our members, their family, and your facility's staff.   While Mercy Care will no longer be offering the Optum Care model, there will be no disruption in care for our members. Members will continue to be seen by their assigned physician and/or Nurse Practitioner. In many cases, this may be the same physician and/or Nurse Practitioner that Skilled Nursing Facilities have worked with under the Optum Care model.

Mercy Care will assign as many members to the same physician of record as possible, in order to minimize any impact to our members. Our members will continue to have the ability to select a provider of their choice by working with their Case Manager, or by contacting Mercy Care Member Services. If a member feels their needs are not being met with their current Physician, they can request another Physician at any time. Our m embers always have choice and can call us anytime to change their PCP.

Mercy Care is currently contracted with the following provider groups to provide care and treatment to members residing in a Skilled Nursing Facility:
  • Hospitalists of Arizona IPC, dba Team Health (includes: Arizona Post Acute Medical Services, Hospitalists of Arizona, IPC, Arizona Acute Services)
  • Pop Health of Arizona, PC, LLC
  • Scottsdale Physicians Group
  • Leading Healthcare, PLLC
  • Integrated Premier Group
  • Unomed, LLC

Notifications of this change will be sent to Mercy Care members on April 1, 2019, providing a 30-day advance notice. Mercy Care is notifying the Skilled Nursing Facilities of the change via this provider notification and our provider newsletter. In coordination with Mercy Care, Optum Care, has also sent a letter to the facilities notifying them of the termination.

As always, don't hesitate to contact your Mercy Care Provider Relations Representative with any questions or comments. You can find this notice and all other provider notices on our Mercy Care website .

Thanks for all you do!
