Club Secretary
Greetings Oranco Members and Prospective Members! It has been a crazy couple of months.
Like many of you, I’m disappointed that Oranco remains closed to the public and so many archery events are being cancelled or postponed. Oranco is subject to San Bernardino County COVID requirements and all proposals to reopen must be approved by the County. Specifically, we are challenged by requirements to limit occupancy and enforce face masks and social distancing (especially at the practice butts where folks tent to bunch up). We are also are strictly prohibited from hosting tournaments during Phase 2 reopening under COVID. We continue to brainstorm ideas on how to reopen on a limited basis, but it is a long exercise in patience.
Until then, I’ll echo some of the recent announcements and ask that everyone BE SMART about social distancing and maintain safe physical distance from one another at the range. If you encounter folks that can’t keep their distance, please ask them to leave the range.
I hope you and your families are staying healthy and I look forward to seeing you again soon.
TOURNAMENTS:
● Unfortunately, the Big Game Shoot and Firecracker 3D were cancelled. Our next invitational Tournament is the Tomahawk 3D on October 10-11, contingent upon San Bernardino County allowing tournaments/sporting events under COVID rules.
● The Oranco Bowhunters 3D Championship was also cancelled but we will look into rescheduling as COVID rules allow. Like the Champ Shoot, this event is open to members, prospective members, and their guests. ● Check out the CBH Event Calendar for additional tournament dates and updates on cancellations throughout California. Riverside Archers is open and has hosted a couple tournaments in the last month or so. El Dorado and Mile Square Park are also open to archery.
● Ladies – If you would like to learn how to shoot tournaments/league or just want to shoot archery with other women sometime, we’re going to put together informal lady’s group once the COVID-19 crisis is over. Please contact Amanda Duchardt at ob.secretarty@outlook.com if you are interested.
ORANCO WINTER LEAGUE
● Oranco’s Winter League final shoot date is postponed. The League Chair is considering a proposal to cancel the last date and announce winners based on the top 3 scores instead of the top 4 scores.
