Club Vice President
Hi Everyone. I am Pete, the Vice President and as such it is my responsibility to run our club invitational shoots. Along with our President Al Wiscovitch, I also deal with the day to day running of the club in general, and specifically we handle any complaints or issues that any of you have. Naturally you are always free to voice any issues at our club meetings held on the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM in the clubhouse, however; Al and I are here to keep things running smooth on a daily basis. So, when problems arise, you should always feel free to contact either of us for immediate help.
Well, as I mentioned in last months newsletter, The Rendezvous was pushed back to the 18th of February. Setup was done on the 16th Friday morning and went flawlessly. I think we set up some very interesting shots by taking a different path into Bear valley, and utilizing the fallen trees from the previous weeks rain.
Saturday was in one word “spectacular”. Steve Baker did a fantastic job of putting on the Pig Roast, Donna Belvedere made some amazing coleslaw and baked beans to accompany the meal and it was a total sell out. Everyone loved it and I am sure that once word spreads to those of you who were not able to attend, that next year we will need a much bigger Pig. The following day on Sunday during the shoot, Brad and I had beans and coleslaw for lunch because it was so %#mn good. That was actually a full meal in itself.
Yes, all in all it would have been nice if we had not been forced to move the shoot to the same weekend that the state traditional shoot was being held but it turned out to be a very good weekend and those who did come out to shoot it had a wonderful time according to the reports that I received. I also want to make note of George Peach, Ken Villars family and Lee Cory, who came out to demonstrate the fine art of flint knapping. We now have the perfect blueprint for next years Rendezvous shoot “weekend” and with a few minor tweaks here and there, it will be bigger and better in the years to come. The ultimate plan here is to make this a real Rendezvous in all aspects. Good food, lots of fun activities, a place to swap or sell archery related things, and finish it off with a challenging tournament.
I want to commend Mark Houston for the Oranco Annual Champ Shoot that he just put on today 3/9/24. Long day, lot of arrows, and I’m thrilled to have finished (survived). With all the rain that we have been getting over the last few weeks, it was more difficult than most years to prepare for Mark’s shoot, and our Range Captain Jose really came through by getting all the lanes trimmed in time for today. The range looked great, thank you.
Pete.
