Building From the Ground Up: Supporting Local Manufacturers and Expanding Orange County's Economic Future
Economic development is not solely about attracting high-profile projects or making headlines—it’s also about fostering business expansion and engagement. Just like in baseball, success isn’t always about hitting home runs; singles and doubles win the game. In our local industrial market, businesses with 25 to 100 employees serve as the foundation of our economy, playing a crucial role in job creation and community stability.
Over the past few months, we have conducted site visits with several key local manufacturers, including Popcorners/PepsiCo. and President Container in the Town of Wallkill/Middletown. These visits go beyond understanding production processes—they allow us to gain valuable insight into the needs, challenges, and opportunities facing our existing businesses. By proactively identifying potential retention concerns and providing direct support, we help companies navigate workforce development, expansion opportunities, and operational challenges.
While our attraction efforts remain a priority—responding to tailored RFIs, spearheading site development initiatives like FAST NY, and building strategic relationships at industry conferences—we are equally committed to supporting the growth of existing businesses. Touring industrial facilities and offering expansion services will continue to be a central focus in our efforts to foster economic vitality in Orange County. If you know of a company that could benefit from the Partnership’s assistance, we’d love to hear from you!
Currently, we are working on four expansion projects that could result in the absorption and development of approximately 300,000 square feet of industrial space, the creation of over 250 jobs, and the retention of many more. Our commitment to grassroots economic development remains steadfast, as we recognize that these companies are not only major tax revenue generators but also key employers that drive economic activity throughout our communities. Supporting business means supporting the long-term prosperity of Orange County, and we will continue to champion the industries that sustain our region’s economic growth.
My very best,
