Revealing a Bold, Creative Strategy at the Site Selectors Guild
In the coming weeks, the Orange County Partnership will be attending the annual Site Selectors Guild (SSG) conference in Tennessee. The SSG is an exclusive group of the top corporate site selectors and real estate consultants in the world. These consultants represent hundreds of billions of dollars worth of projects and site selection requirements. Our goal is simple – to meet with site selectors who are experts in the advanced manufacturing sector in an effort to bring site selection requirements and projects to Orange County. Over the last few months, our team has worked on billions of dollars worth of site selection requirements, ranging from cold storage and food and beverage processing to clean tech and cannabis.
At this conference, we will be unveiling the 17-84-86 Innovation Corridor strategy – a cooperative effort between Dutchess, Orange, Sullivan, Delaware, and Broome counties to market the corridor for advanced manufacturing. Broome County, home to Binghamton University, and Dutchess County, home to Onsemi, will serve as our innovation bookends, with Orange and Sullivan positioned to service the manufacturing and logistics supply chain. This strategy will connect very different, yet similar counties around one common goal: supporting manufacturing growth in New York State.
Economic development now spans beyond the bounds of our individual counties – our regional ecosystem of colleges, existing businesses, talent, and transportation assets all play a key role in attracting modern companies. Collectively, we will leverage the sites and assets along the 17/86-I-84 corridor to entice site selectors to consider our larger market for manufacturing projects. To execute our sector-based strategy, we need to think bigger – our Innovation Corridor strategy is just that.

Orange County Industrial Market Shows Steady Growth | |
Despite national headwinds and a volatile interest rate environment, the industrial market in Orange County remains strong. Over the last few years, Orange County has emerged as a cost-effective alternative to Northern New Jersey, boasting similar market and labor access at a more affordable lease rate. Although there is strong market interest, the financial conditions and lingering supply chain issues make speculative construction and development difficult in this environment.

Orange County Partnership Chases Growing Offshore Wind Supply Chain Manufacturing Opportunity | |
National, state and local market dynamics have positioned Orange County to compete for significant industrial projects. We at the Orange County Partnership have identified a handful of emerging sectors that our market can accommodate – sectors that align with our strategic approach toward creating good jobs and fostering next-generation economic development opportunities. The Semiconductor supply chain, Life Sciences, Advanced Manufacturing, and Clean Technology/Offshore Wind supply chain are all priority sectors.
Offshore wind has been a hot topic across New York State and the east coast broadly. Significant wind projects have been announced and funded from Rhode Island to North Carolina. As this sector grows and projects continue to advance in the Atlantic Ocean and NY Bite, there have been supply chain manufacturing opportunities for communities with access to the Hudson River. The offshore wind supply chain is dynamic and robust – consisting of the production of cables, blades, nacelles, and steel components used to produce finished windmills. These projects are often in excess of $100 million in capital investment, creating hundreds of good-paying advanced manufacturing jobs – the type of jobs we want to create in Orange County.

Orange County Partnership Names Engineering & Surveying Properties as its 2024 Most Valuable Partner | |
The Orange County Partnership is pleased to announce that Engineering & Surveying Properties of Montgomery, and its principals Ross Winglovitz and Jay Samuelson, have been selected as its 2024 Most Valuable Partner award winner.
Samuelson and Winglovitz will be honored at the Orange County Partnership’s Most Valuable Partner Breakfast on Tuesday, June 4th at the Barn at Villa Venezia in the Town of Wallkill. The program will begin at 8 a.m.
Engineering & Surveying Properties, led by Samuelson and Winglovitz, will be celebrating its 20th year in business this May. Since its founding, the firm has been engaged in some of Orange County’s most significant development projects. It has maintained a diverse portfolio that consists of industrial, hotel, mixed-use, residential, retail, municipal and adaptive reuse developments.

Alliance for Balanced Growth Convenes Session Focused on Water, Sewer Infrastructure’s Role in Facilitating Smart Growth | |
The Alliance for Balanced Growth hosted an informative session on February 29th entitled “Water & Sewer: A Strategic Resource for Smart Growth” that focused on the significant funding now available from state and federal sources for much-needed infrastructure projects and the hurdles that need to be overcome to advance these much-needed projects in Orange County.
The event, held at The Country Club at Otterkill in Campbell Hall, featured a panel that included panelists Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus; City of Middletown Mayor Joseph DeStefano; John Brust, principal, Delaware Engineering DPC, and Joseph G. McKay, partner at Catania, Mahon & Rider, PLLC. ABG Co-Chair Dan Depew of Holt Construction moderated the panel discussion. The program attracted more than 150 guests, who at the end of the presentation engaged in a spirited question-and-answer session.
The speakers chronicled the tremendous need to undertake repairs and or replacements of aging infrastructure in Orange County and the entire state. All noted that the region’s economic future is at stake if these investments are not made in the coming years.

Supply & Demand Chain Executive, a global supply chain trade publication, named Sandon "Sandy" Kane and TradeTrans Corporation as one of the winners of this year's Pros to Know award, which recognizes outstanding procurement managers whose accomplishments offer a roadmap for other leaders looking to leverage supply chain for competitive advantage.
