Giant Orange Orchard Wrap Up
Upcoming Harvest Schedule

Almost ... but not quite ... apricot season!

We're planning one larger apricot orchard harvest and will announce that soon once the ripening time is more certain.

But in the meantime, how about joining a fun and satisfying harvest of citrus from homes in San Jose Willow Glen next Tuesday morning, June 10?

Sign up soon through the Events calendar; there are 6 volunteer spaces still available, maximum 2 per party.

And while it seems like a long time ago, we had a tremendous success this year at the "Giant Orange Orchard" harvests that concluded in early May.

Through the efforts and community spirit of hundreds of volunteers, over 6 weeks and 13 harvests we picked a total 115,992 pounds of navel oranges for Second Harvest of Silicon Valley. That's so much that as many as 75,000 people received fruit from the harvests.

You can read more below, and gain more appreciation through a new article on the website: volunteer Vikki Bowes-Mok interviewed orchard family members and Second Harvest for her article "The Sweetest Gift: San Jose Oranges Nourish Thousands Thanks to Local Heroes."

Thanks to everyone who made the abundant Giant Orange Orchard harvests possible.

Giant Orange Orchard Harvests Wrapped Up For 2025

Picking orangesAfter a bountiful six weeks of harvests, this year's edition of the "Giant Orange Orchard" harvests wrapped up in early May.

Together we picked and donated a total of 115,992 pounds of oranges to Second Harvest - which benefited tens of thousands of community members in need. This was much more than last year and the third highest amount in the 8 years we have harvested this orchard.

Nearly 350 volunteers, supported by members of the family that owns and manages this orchard, helped pick these delicious navel oranges during 13 harvests on weekend mornings and Thursday evenings (and a bonus Friday afternoon company group).

We are grateful to everyone who participated in these harvests. Our volunteer harvest leaders, drivers, and assistants made each event possible, so we extend another giant THANK YOU to these 23 super volunteers:
